I have a family member who has a terminal illness. With all good intentions I am trying to produce a copy of the incredibles to view at home for they cannot make the trip to the theater. i have successfully downloaded "The.Incredibles.TS-POT". to my dismay it has arrived in pieces. i was under the impression that i was to get an mpeg or avi that i could show on my laptop. i have done a little research on haw to turn this into a viewable copy but it is all on a PC and i am on a MAC. can anyone please help me convert this video on a macintosh? i have a superdrive and am able to burn onto a cd or dvd. the files are in two seperate folders named cd1 and cd2. all the files are in sequential order beginning with "pot.incrediblests.cd1.r00". can anyone save me??

Well, none of us believe that claptrap about why you've downloaded it but we don't care on this site just don't tell us WHERE you got it and everything is rosy.

I know fuck all about MACs but I know what those files are - you need something that can extract RAR files (somebody help me out here, it a MAC for gods sake!!).

Once you've extracted the RAR files you'll end up with a .cue file and a .bin file. This is a CD image (in this instance, it's an image of a VCD). You'll need something that can burn cue/bin pairs.

Again, I'd love to help but MACs scare me so over to the few MAC owners on here...

Okay, as someone with little to no Mac experience... lemme try to field this...

I only know a few programs from a friend who claims to be good with the M word... so we'll see if this works... at your expense...

Download and install http://rarlabs.com/rar/rarosx-3.4.1.tar.gz

That is the OSX port of winrar. Asuming that you got a decent copy of the release there should be a CD1 and CD2 folder... going into, first CD1, and then CD2, extract pot.incrediblests.cd1.rar followed by pot.incrediblests.cd2.rar

You'll be left with a .bin and .cue file for each of your CDs. Now.. here's where it gets hazy for me... I know you can use Toast to burn them... (these are called CD Images) and this is probably your best bet. They will more than likely play in a DVD player you own, if not you'll have to use a DVD Player in your laptop (which will play it, no questions asked).

I'm going to inqiure as to this actual process but that's what I can think of off of the top of my head...

Oops ... first time I read through this thread I didn't notice that he was asking for Mac help.

Yes, DethStar is right about the Mac version of rar/unrar. Once you install it you can use it from the command line (i.e. the Terminal). Try "unrar -h" to see all the cmdline options. Most likely you'll want to change directories to wherever you downloaded the files and then do "unrar e filenamehere.rar". It will automatically unrar all of the fragments into a .bin and .cue file. Or, if you've downloaded some crappy re-encode, it will be a .mpg or .avi file.

In either case, rather than burning to a CD, I'd recommend just watching the files on the computer with mplayer or VLC. I prefer mplayer -- it does everything you could ever want. However, you have to have an IQ above 80 to install it correctly (or use the pre-compiled Mac-specific MPlayerOSX). Both of these choices can be used to watch .bin, .avi, and .mpg files.
