bsplayer

this is probably the best player i've come across in years, and it plays everything flawlessly. has a variety of skins, good forward/rewind, maybe a few bugs (but what program doesn't), good playlist functionality, you can re-program any keys you want to do whatever you want (keyboard, mouse etc) and best of all, it's one of the only players I found that you can adjust brightness, contrast everything....that may sound dumb, but I'm serious, I haven't found a good player with that feature in a LONG time.

Anyways, here's the link: BSplayer

D/L it... check it out...tell me what you think.

When you say "DL", I'm assuming you mean download. But players don't download, so I'm not sure exactly what you're asking.

If you're looking for the best DVD player to use to watch your downloads, check out the DVD Player Discussion forum. If you're looking for the best computer software to use ... why, it's mplayer, of course!

Dude, you with your mplayer.

I've got the version for Windows, but there is no GUI. I'm still going to test it, but how about someone answering "what is the best GUI player for Windows"?

I personally like BSPlayer.

::Update::
Non-GUI player was pretty damn good and stable. Will likely create a batch file so that I can play files with a right click.
Well, half of my ass is on the wagon with you, once they make a stable GUI, maybe the other half will be there too.

You do that to so many people on here. Not sure why but I guess you feel better having done it.

He asked what was the best player to dl. Not what the best player to use to dl.
How difficult is that to understand?

Why must you always make more out of stupid shit than you must? I know I know you are here to cause problems for people but geeesh!

Mplayer might be cool on linux but you might want to offer a windows alternative. Just to be open minded and realize most people are using a windows os.
(might want to let people know mplayer is not windows media player and that the only gui for it is on linux)

wmp will play a lot of unrared rar files and windvd will play unrared files if you change the .001 to .vob .

It is up to you to choose the player you like most(search!!). It is kind of like choosing the person you want to vote into the presidency. Most have their problems and the ones that don't might not be what you were looking for in the first place.

Do a search on the board for this type of thread and weed through the mess and dl a couple and see what fits your needs best.

It would be much easier to understand if people would re-read what they just wrote. The way he asks is just plain retarded. HS is not trying to be a dick (and if he was who cares, he still tried to help), but people need to stop writing |337 and add some goddamn punctuation to their posts or else they deserve to be misunderstood, asked for clarification, and bitched at by others.

Sigh.

I try to help people here as much as I possibly can, and I honestly had no clue what he was talking about. I stared at it for five minutes and didn't understand it.

If you're the world's most brilliant person and can automatically understand what every newbie here posts, why didn't you respond before me? I saw an unanswered question, and I answered it.

Sue me.

Yeah, it's very interesting that people on Windows dislike the player because it doesn't have a GUI. The GUI on Linux and Mac is nice, and yet I don't really know anyone who uses it. I almost always launch it from the command-line, especially because I like seeing the verbose error/status messages in the terminal.

So it almost never occurs to me that people are really interested in having a GUI. But good point.

Anyway, I'm glad you like it.

Cool.

I should point out that as of the July 15, 2004, release (MPlayer 1.0pre5) the official name of mplayer has changed from "MPlayer - The Movie Player for Linux" to "MPlayer - The Movie Player". I think that change was long overdue, but apparently 1.0pre5 has *really* improved the Mac OS X and Windows support. It certainly has made the codec packaging nicer on Linux ... dunno about OS X, as I haven't upgraded yet.

When using bsplayer, I fix the brightness and audio, now I wanna save it, so that I can burn it like this, but everytime I click save, it just says error. Anyone know a way around this? Or is everyone getting this message? Thanks for the help.

I've never used bsplayer (so I have no idea what the Save function is supposed to do), but it's a safe bet that you can't create a modified version of your a/v file without doing some re-encoding. Do you know if bsplayer offers any encoding features?

Do you have any special skills?

VLC is best for unfinished downloads.
bsPlayer is best for subbed avis (not hardcoded subs, an avi & srt file )
mplayer didnt work so fine for me, but that was some time ago and i had no use to try it again.
