Question Rating system ---> x.x/x.x/x.x What does this mean?

I looked in the forum but I could not find anything that explains the rating sytem that you use (on the VCDQuality.com HP).

Where do these numbers come from and what do they mean?

Thanks for the help

Admin?

On the Homepage you can click on the ratings to post your own rating, this is what affects the ratings on the main page. Many people post their ratings in the movie comments threads too (or only post them in there and don't bother to vote... THIS IS WRONG!).

Another common mistake people make when rating movies is to think they are absolute "scores" but they're not, rate a movie based on it's source not the final picture quality... This way it's possible for a Telesync (for example) to be compared like-for-like against other Telesyncs whereas if people voted based on picture quality, even good Telesyncs would get low scores and bad DVD rips would get high scores.

I hope all that makes sense. If not, remember these points...

1. If you post a score in the comments thread for a movie, vote for that movie on the Homepage as well.
2. Don't vote for a release unless you've seen it.
3. Votes based on the "sample" are ok, you don't have to see the whole release.
4. Vote based on the source, don't automatically give CAMS low scores... If it's a good CAM, reward it as such.

does not really make sense to me...why are there three numbers? and so u are saying you are comparing each to the ideal quality of that caliper? so if it is a telecine ,you are comparing it to other telecines??

Jord-man

video/audio/movie rating

and yes, you're comparing on the format. Don't compare CAMs to Screeners and what not. Set a standard for yourself on the video quality for CAMS and TS (the video is the same thing for either, only difference is the audio)

Admin?

Also, you don't HAVE to vote in all three - the movie rating is optional if you've only seen a sample.

Finally, before any of you point out that this system isn't accurate - it is in the sense that it provides a reasonable "average" score if enough people vote. Idiot voters are also beaten with sticks and (optionally) banned.
