viewing and Converting Million Dollar Babe XVID

I have downloaded Million.Dollar.Baby.LiMITED.DVD.SCREENER.XViD-MPAA but am having problems viewing it in PowerDVD and converting it using mainconcept mpeg encoder.

When I view it in powerdvd the faces are all distorted and blurred however, when I view it using VLC the picture is fine.

I tried encoding it DVD but the same happens.

Can someone please help.

Rab.

This PLONKER already had that codec installed, however, I downloaded it again and reinstalled it.

To no avail the same PROBLEM EXISTS.

Maybe try another converter such as Canopus Procoder?

Bitter, miserable twat.

Open in VirtualDub and view a few frames. If the problem is still there then your download is most likely fucked.

If it looks alright in VirtualDub, then you have some other DirectShow filter that's causing the problem on playback. Did you originally install a codec pack, and have you now you uninstalled everything?

Yep plays fine in VirtualDub and VLC.

Will uninstall codec again and retry or stick with the SVCD version.

Bitter, miserable twat.

If it opens in VirtualDub then your XviD codec is probably OK.

Do this:
run mplayer2 from a command prompt
open your AVI file
click file->properites/advanced
make a note of what filters/codecs are in use (or take a screen shot) and post it here

The codec wmp is using is ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder

but as previously mentioned I now have the SVCD version, although it is very annoying that this wont convert properly.

I have since converted and played several other XVID movies so cant undertand the problem.

Rab.

It would seem quite a few encoders have started using new/different versions of the various video and audio codecs, as there seems to have been a recent spike of conversion problems and compatiblity issues with hardware players.

Uninstall ffdshow, or configure it so that XviD's own decoder is used for playing XviD, and try again.

Alas, FFDShow used to be good but I updated it to watch a TV rip the other day and even the latest version couldn't cope... The latest Xvid works a treat anyway, WAY more stable than it used to be.

There is a configuration file in ffdshow that allows you to only us it for specific codec types.

I had the same problem as well, just uncheck XVID.

I still needed ffdshow for its HighSpeed MP43 & MP42.

Just my 2 cents
