Well, I was preparing for the worst with all the "blocky" comments. But when I watched it, it was MUCH better than I set my expectations for. But, it is there.
Definitely worth a watch. Quality ain't retail for sure, but the blockiness only really caught my eye couple times throughout the film (I was enjoying the movie... If I watched it agian, I would gripe more ).
Good movie, well worth it (even for a DVDScr). It was a merry christmas for sure.
Video 8/10 - A perfect 10 would be untouched, which this is not. BUT, better than some retail encodes I've seen.
Nice job CuNT... And I mean that in the nicest way possible
:: EDIT ::
Quick technical specs about the encode. Was approx a 5270kbit/sec CBR (constant bit rate). WHICH is not bad!! Alot of the retails we get are like 3500VBR (variable bit rate). Granted VBRs go up to 9200kbit/sec and less chance of blockiness (if encoded properly). But 5200 is still around 60% of perfect (or as perfect as DVD can offer) picture quality wise.
Personally, not a fan of CBR (this one was one of the better ones I've seen) but I can't wait to see how nice the video will look when they do around a 4800kbit/sec VBR R1 retail. Or untouched . Or, by then maybe dual layer discs will be super affordable.
:: EDIT (again) ::
All the above doesn't count for large HDTVs. Man... I watched this again on my big TV. SUPER interlaced. Scrap the artifacting issues, the interlacing was so plentiful.
