sin city svcd Help

Hi there,

I have been lloking through the forums and have not been able to find the answer to my question.

Basically my question is... i started with a .bin file, then mounted that in Alcohol to get the 4 folders that come inside it... the SVCD, EXT, MPEG2, SEGMENT. When I try to play the mpeg file in the MPEG2 folder, I get a "cracking" audio track and no video. So i went to google and got nothing, I checked the forums and got all the recommended codecs, but it still won't play.

This is my first time using an SVCD... so maybe I am trying to do something I'm not allowed to... I mean can I play that mpeg file without actually burning the CD??

Also... if I am posting in the wrong area. I apologize in advance and will not do so in the future.

Thank you.

Under Construction

I just mounted the cue for sin city with daemon virtual drive.....mpg played fine.....no cracking sound. So maybe try daemon tools.
1) Yes, you can play that mpg without burning it.
2) You've posted in the right forum.
3) Welcome!

Admin?

If you're using a "normal" Windows player such as Windows Media Player, WinAmp, Zoomplayer or similar you'll need an MPEG2 codec. Alternatively, use WinDVD or PowerDVD (they don't require external codecs)... So, your method is right, you just need the codec.

Also, don't install any "codec packs" because they're fuckin' rubbish

Mac Dude!!

To play any .bin file on your comp just download this prog called "VLC Player"
Get it here h**p://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Install it then tell the .bin file that you want to watch to open using "VLC"
Tadaaaaaaa!!
You dont need any extra Codec...its so simple
I use this app with my mac all the time and it plays most formats
The windows version is the same as mac so HAVE PHUN

Mac Dude!!

I cant speak for window but the lastest version of VLC for Mac (0.8.1) doesnt seem to like quite a few rls groups Sg-18 is one that comes to mind,if you try to play the first .bin file you just get 10sec SG-18 logo and music but no movie...playing the same file with 0.7.0 lets you watch it all.......
Once you have chosen your platform look at the bottom of the page and there is a link for older versions
I use 0.7.0 and this is fine with all rls groups

I use VLC 0.8.1 on my XPsp2 box and haven't had any problems playing from bin, img, rar files.

I have noticed that if my HD is heavily fragmented I get a bit of 'skipping' of the movie's sound. A quick defrag seems to fix everything.

Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

I ectracted cd1, cd2, and cd3. I then burned the cue file from cd1 to a cd-r using alcohol 120. But when i play the cd in my dvd player, or my computer's dvd player, it doesn't read the cd. Can someone please tell me what im doing wrong? i'd really appreciate it.

Try a free program called BurnAtOnce (it's Google-able). Simply double-click the .cue file and hit "write"... If the CD's don't work then, either your DVD player is broken or shit or you're an idiot - I'm tipping it'll work though
