MediaJoin

I have to video files that I am trying to merge before I turn them into a DVD. I am trying to use Mediajoin. I have around 24gig left on my harddrive. The two video files are approxiametly 7.1 meg each. When I go to merge the two files I RUN OUT OF HARDDRIVE SPACE. While I understand it takes more harddrive space than what the two files are combined (size wise). I cant figure out how the hell combining two 7.1 meg files can only get to 10-20% completiong because I use up all of my 24 gig of free harddrive space? Any suggestions? These are the statistics for these two files from their profiles..

File #1
23 frames/second
195kbps
12 bit
Divx Codec
width 640 pixels
height 288 pixels

File#2
23 rames/second
192 Kbps
12 bit
Divx Codec
with 640 pixels
height 288 pixels

sounds like you're re-encoding the video when you're joinging them.....not sure what the option is for mediajoin, but you should be able to do direct stream copies for both the video and audio streams and end up with a 14.2 meg file.

I think it is re-encoding them, because the bitrate is different... medijoin doesnt have to many options. You can't direct stream them if they are running to different audio bitrates - can you? Since I first posted I used virtualdub to direct stream them. It joins the files without using 100 gig like mediajoin was trying to do, but the audio is out of sync now. Most likely due to the fact that they were running two different bitrates. So I guess I have to figure this out now.

extract the audio from both of the seperate files using virtual dub and save them as wav files....then combine the wav files with any tool such as adobe audition....next combine the files using direct stream copy for video, and use wav source and select the combined wave file for the source audio and compress the audio to whatever format you want.
