950 mb on One 700 mb CDR Disk??

I keep seeing postings that make these claims. How is it possible? When these d/ls are converted into a readable (s)vcd format they are way to big to burn on one disk. Anyone else having these same problems?? Thanks

well you'll get 800mb of (s)vcd on standard due to the mode used to burn them.

an extra 150MB is optimistic, but you can get 99min cdr, and 80min discs can be overburnt to a degree.

Admin?

Bitch-tits is right... Normally a CD has various error correction gubbins within the layout, SVCD doesn't bother with any of that so the space saved is used for data.

Depends on how big the disc is you're burning them to. Most SVCD files won't work on normal 74-minute discs, since they're designed to fit on 80-minute discs. They'll fit the 80-min discs just fine, though, even though they may "appear" to be too big.

I think the "size" of an 80-min disc is 700MB or so.. but when I extract the MPEG files, they're often 750MB+, at least, if not close to 800MB. But, for some undefinable reason, when I take those MPEGs into Nero, it shows them fitting just fine into a 700MB space. It works, but don't ask me how.

700MB CDR's are really 820MB but around 120MB of that is for error protection. As said above due to the way you burn SVCD or VCD you wont need room for error protection, therfore u can fit the 820MB on one 700MB CDr
