hello, i have a stupid lil question. i recieved a msg from some guy saying that he has uncapped me. im a newbie and have no idea what this actually means or if its a threat and if so then how to deal with it.

can anyone please help?

The term uncapped/no cap is usually means that there's no cap on your internet line. Meaning you can download as much as you want without an extra fee.
But I doubt that "some" guy can simply uncap you.

maybe he meant he uncapped the file share speed limit on a bot that he was administering. i have no idea, i simply ignored his message since he started the lil convo off with a creepy lil smily face.

uncapping is when you increase your bandwidth caps,by modifing your modems config file(by editing or forcing a faster config to your modem at boot time) or by cloning the mac of another modem that has a higher class of service than yours..why someone would pm/emailed you and say that they uncapped your modem,is beyond me(and impossible)..do not give out any info to this person about your isp,modem,mac addrs..shit,tell him nothing.

I'm guessing it's a bot trying to spread a trojan. It also probably tried to DCC a "Cable Modem Uncapper.exe" or some shit at the same time.
