could this have been encoded greater than 576px wide? or is the length too long?

yeah but look at the height... it most likely has a higher overall resolution than the average 2.35 ar single cd rip... trust me i doubt youd want the res any higher unless you prefer your movies blocky and blurry.

good rls, good movie.

nicely encoded. there's lots of dark scenes, and surprisingly little artifacting etc. looks GREAT for a 1 disc rip.

pity there's no ac3, but that'd mean 2 discs and the size:quality compromise is a good enough argument for me. for most movies, I'm happy to save bandwidth and press the "pro logic II" button on my amp.
