BAD IVTC - Nuke, please
I'll admit, the VCDUS release had duplicated frames, just like the nfo says. However, the MVS release is IVTC'd under the assumption that the capture framerate of the cam was 23.976, which is wrong. The cam video was captured at 25fps, meaning there were blurred/blended frames, and as a result the MVS release has DELETED FRAMES; that's why the motion jumps a little bit every so often. Duplicated frames are bad, but I'd rather have duplicated frames than deleted frames. At least I'll be able to correct the jerkyness with the other release. MVS does have better audio (de-inverted left channel, unlike VCDUS. EDIT: scratch that, it's inverted, just less noticably) but the video is enough to warrant a nuke for BAD IVTC.
TO WHOEVER SAID THERE'S NO AUDIO ON YOUR STANDALONE: This is because the left channel is "inverted" compared to the right, i.e. an exact negative copy of the waveform. Just like if you take a negative image and combine it with the normal image, combining the two channels effectively cancels them out. The most you'll hear is a little noise where the waveforms are slightly different due to mp3 compression. This is trivial to fix, or could have been; all MVS needed to do was open Goldwave or Audacity, select the left channel and hit "invert". Lazy, lazy work.
Video: 0 - Botched it horribly, at least if they even vaguely hoped to justify a proper. It's the same source, same quality, same motion blur as the previous release, only this time it has the added problem of skipped frames.
Audio: 6 - It's listenable, but it has the problems I mentioned above. The inverted audio in particular is a problem, since anybody who watches this on a standalone hooked up to a mono TV won't be able to hear anything. On top of that it's amplified WAY too much, or at least shoddily, so that you get some clipping in the audio.
Movie: 8 - It was pretty good and had a few unexpected twists, along with some great performances. However, it still had a bit of that ol' Hollywood predictableness in there as well, and a few things made absolutely no sense. Still, I wouldn't mind there being some kind of spin-off to this, maybe a series or (more likely) cartoon series picking up where the movie left off.
Bottom Line - I don't care what the hell you tag it, this release is inferior to the previous version in every way imaginable. The skipped frames alone should warrant a nuke. The previous version isn't perfect, no doubt, but this isn't a step in the right direction. Shame on MVS.
