in germany my picks were:

Jan Delay
D Flame
Fettes Brot
blink 182ish punk, a little more tropical than sublime, gangsta rap, and a little like uncle kracker, respectively
all band names have been misspelled.
for most memorable songs:
die artze's "machmal haben fraun," though it isn't indicative of the rest of their stuff, it has an amazing video and the song is about how men that like to beat women just want to be beaten themselves. couldn't find the video, but here's "manner sind schwein" or "men are pigs."
Jan Delay's "ich mochte nicht, dass ihr meine lieder singt" or "I don't want you to sing my songs"... traditional ska upbeats.
D Flame, "Sorry" is pretty damned good, if you like gangsta rap, don't know who in america i could compare it to.
and Fettes Brot does a cover of "The Joker" that rocks, HERE is a clip that has it at the end.
