External HD and DVD player

What could be the reason for some of the folders on an external hard drive not being seen by a dvd player.

I copy them across the same way as I copy the others across, plug it into the usb of my dvd player, it reads the contents but sometimes some of the folders don't show up. Really fucking annoying.

Main folders. It now won't show any new folders that I add. Also all the video files I now put on it come up with the error "Unsupport Format", although it WILL play the files that were already on there.

Paragon partition now shows it as an invalid drive with a bad partition. Running chkdsk /r on it now.

Got any suggestions for good disk error checking software?

When I open up a partition manager it gives this error.

"The starting LBA value 2080 of partition 1 is not valid!"

Seriously fucked off with it. I don't want to format it again as it has 190gb of movies on that still work fine.
