So some of you may remember dwaggys post from a while back about vectors, involving the rather awesome girl with a guitar. Its always something ive wanted to pickup, so seeing as I had some free time today, I thought I might as well get into it. A friend suggested I try making a facemask of Paul Wedgwood of SplashDamage fame, so what the hell, a targets a target right.

Bear in mind this is my first attempt at vectoring, and i got bored after a while, hence the lazy hair and the unfinished ears

Things I realise:

-Skin tones dont match well, some jarring changes there
-Source image was a bit small, which may have made complications
-It doesnt actually look like him, and i couldnt really replicate the grin properly
-Face proportions were weird, I tried transforming in various manners but didnt seem to work so well, still couldnt get the appropriate structure.

Oh well, suggestions as to where I went wrong would be nice. Also hi

If thats your first go at vectoring then its a bloody good effort. What software did you use?

If you wanna diminish the stark differences between the skin tones you should look into gradients. It fades different colours into one another.

Where you went wrong..? As far as I can see your only mistake was drawing a Brian Peppers half brother instead of the bloke you intended on doing

try this.. btw most ppl use either corel or adobe products for doing vector.. just industry standards..
photoshop will rasterize if you import something..
illustrator is the best but has a high learning curve
coreldraw is decent but again high learning curves for most of these programs.
