ihateclowns (nice name ;-), I agree. I was so psyched for We Were Soldiers, but somewhat let-down. Even after cooling down, and telling myself to just watch the movie without expectations of something fabulous, it still wasn't that great. Too much melodrama, too much of what a "normal" screening audience would expect. It's a war story about Vietnam and, just because it's about Vietnam, doesn't mean it'll be good. In fact, I think it makes it that much harder. (Anyone interested in reading should check out Tim O'Brien's novels - EXCELLENT) I've still to see Black Hawk Down, I'm hoping that will be good. Platoon and Full Metal Jacket are, in my eyes, some of the best war movies.
*About the Movie*
Excellent movie, keeps you on your toes 90% of the time. It certainly deosn't condone or condemn the man/boy love thing - if you watch the entire movie you'll see why.
*Quality*
Video: 8 ~ Beautiful, with only a few dark scenes (combined, lasting only a few minutes) having a reddish tint obscuring a few things, the copyright message only appears 4 to 5 times, overall excellent. What you'd expect from a screener.
Audio: 9 ~ Virtually Perfect. Absolutely NO pop noises, scratchy sounds, and no need to adjust the volume in-movie. Minor gripe: Music comes out nicely, but ever-so-slightly distorted. But what more could you ask for? A true perfect audio rip.
Overall ~ 9
