Wondering which of these to buy. What would you buy? A Nintendo DS or a Sony PSP?

PSP all the way so easy to run iso's on it with a custom firmware. Also can work as a internet radio, univeral remote control and Its a handy video player too. It also have alot of great emulators for it from an Amiga 500 to a N64.

Didn't know about the emu stuffs. Seems though most folk opt to buy a DS.

How do you copy the games on DS? Is it putting ROM's to a blank cart or something?

Likewise how's it done on a PSP?

Generally I don't 'do' Sony stuff, but the PSP looks alright. Is the external memory that MS Duo shite?

You just copy the iso on to the MS Duo(you can get an 8gig stick) and run them. Only thing is you must be running a custom firmware. You can buy them off ebay with them running it already.
If you buy a psp right out of the shop you may not be able to downgrade to then upgrade to the custom firmware(I sound like the indian character off fonejacker). It has to be on 1.5 before you can change to the custom firmware.

Admin?

I'd say the DS to be honest Mystic... The games a far more innovative compared to the PSP.

As for the DS flashcarts - the vast majority of them consist of a cartridge with a Transflash memory card slot (the thumbnail-sized one that some phones use). You simply take the Transflash out of the cartridge, shove it in an SD card adaptor then slap the fucker in the PC and dump your roms on it. Out of the current flashcarts, I'd recommend the R4 because it requires no patching of the roms and supports download play.

Because of the touchscreen and mic there's also some pretty good homebrew out there for the DS, including DSOrganize (a web browser, MP3 player, filofax, picture viewer, IRC client and all sorts of other gubbins. There's also a homebrew app called Colours, which is an EXCELLENT little watercolour sketching program.

Any questions, gimmie a shout.

The reason emus are so important on the PSP is because there's so few PSP games actually worth playing. NDS by an absolute million miles (from someone who owned both)

I have both systems and they both have their perks.
The PSP is a great system only because of the custom firmware which allows for home brew and emulation. I have a NES, Genesis, SNES, GBA, and Capcom Arcade emulators on my system and that's all I play, it's fucking great. One of the great things about the emulators for the PSP is that they have been tweaked to be able to play wirelessly with other PSP's. The other day we were playing Battletoads and Contra 3 at work to kill time...it was great.
The DS is also a great system. A lot of the puzzle games are great and the touch system is pretty gnarley.
I say in the long run get both.

Thanks NS and Sluts.

Think i'llgo for a DS. Wanted something to fuck about on on the 20+hr multi-million connections flight(s) to Cayman next week!

Might wait and order from there though from somewhere in the USA, might be cheaper. Everything in Canada is about 800,371 times more expensive than anywhere else in the whole universe.

Deffo think i'll go for the DS though, that's assured.

Been out of the games loop for ages now though, but did hear the DS has some sort of connectability to the Wii? Gonna DEFFO buy my Wii at long last when I get settled in Cayman, just wondered if there's some sort of interactioness going on with the DS and Wii?

^I believe Pokemon Battle Revolution supports it and there's bound to be more... They both have Wifi after all, so there's no reason why they shouldn't.

The DS only supports WEP encryption though so wave goodbye to your router security if you take the fucker online

I haven't had mine for ages, but if you want a list of fun games to try, grab:

Cooking Mama
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney
Animal Crossing Wild World
Guitar M-06 (not tried but its a guitar simulator!)
Elite Beat Agents / Osu! Tatake! Oendan! (same game just OTO has japanese music, its great!)

Those are all the unique DS games where they're developed specifically for the console and work brilliantly, then you've got the conversions like

New Super Mario Bros
Super Mario Kart
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

etc. Seriously, there's a good 1400 releases out there, and there's a lot of good good games.. but stick these on a memory card and you won't be caring for anything else for a while!

You have a point pHo... There's SO many quality games on the DS (including 3rd party stuff) that it's difficult to know what to recommend Yet again, it proves the ethos that gameplay comes before shifting polygons is correct.

Oh, and Elektroplankton - everybody should try Elektroplankton

Indeed, plus I started running emulation software about 12 years ago.. In all fairness I don't really care about being able to play Street Fighter 2 on the bus anymore you know. A system really should have enough games that it can support itself without having to rely on 10 year old software. Sure emulation is fun, but there's only so many systems I'm going to want to play a PC Engine on.

PSP is still around $40 more.

Both have advantages but I would have to say DS is more bang for $.
