s-video adaptor

SO i got a new gfx card and I run an svideo out to th tv in my office (just an old CRT 36"). It has no svideo so I have a 4pin svideo to RCA adaptor. Worked great with the old card but the new card looks like it has 7 pins. when I run it to the TV now all I get is black and white.

ive looked at ton of sites and have yet to see an adaptor thats is definate 7pin to rca, they all say backwards compatible which gives me the feeling it will be 4pin and not work.

any ideas?

mod? no! asshole? yes!

is it an ati card? i know on a couple ati's i had, they werent svideo outputs, they were outputs to a a/v dongle supplied with the card that had svideo and rca on it... you might want to check with the manufacturer...

Admin?

Aye! ATI cards have an adaptor that normally converts to shitty RCA composite.

pjeer?

the 7pins are just so it can do composite (video), svideo and component. the reason its in black and white is because you're feeding the tv with something it can't understand. in the output options make sure its feeding composite not svid, and a 60hz signal etc.

Yeah I saw that but I wasnt sure about it when it says 4 pin compatible too. I figured it was just a 4 pin that would work in a 7pin hence not fixing my solution.

I toyed around with all my settings but its a no go. Black and white is all I get. Guess I will have to fork out the cash for a fuckin new dongle.

I'm going to bump this for a similar question, I have a svideo->rca adapter like this one http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images...YPL._AA280_.jpg but I'm having issues with it.

If I hook up a regular svideo cable from the laptop to the tv it's fine, but my graphics card (Intel 915GM set) doesn't recognize tv input when I try to use this adapter. I'm sure there is something stupid that I'm missing and I'm really sick of dealing with the entire convert/burn process to watch a movie on a larger screen or to showcase something to friends. If anyone has any ideas please let me know

thanks for that lolobo,

I think my problem is ... that this isn't an svideo adapter.

Anyone have any clue what type of converter this is? google has proved useless so far, it's a yellow converter like the one I linked in my above post (so I would assume it's video related), yellow RCA to an 8-pin setup. I just assumed it was svideo but I only remember svideo coming in the 4pin and 7pin setup, anyone know what the hell this is?
