Admin?

If you click anything in the "Type" column you'll get to our faq/glossary (no, I don't know how you were expected to know that ): http://www.vcdquality.com/index.php?page=faq

Basically "Limited" means it didn't get a full cinema release, normally because it's a low-budget independent movie. "Retail" isn't often used but normally suggests that it's the final high-street version as opposed to a leaked edit or a one that does differ from the retail version.

^^^ :edit: ...beaten, arse face.

Limited is described in the FAQ and retail means the source is available from a shop (as opposed to a DVD screener or workprint).

Don't be put off by a *LIMITED* tag. Some of the best movies I've seen in recent years failed to get a full cinema release. But for release groups I would never have got to see them at all.

Just to add to what Neversoft alread explained, the *RETAIL* tag is often used when there have been doubts about the authenticity of a previous DVD rip. Ordinarily it is already implied and not strictly necessary.

Another term missing from the glossary is *COMPLETE*. This means all the extras from retail DVD are included except the copyright warnings and (I think?) forced previews. This differs from a *DVD9* in that it will still fit on a single-layer disc.
