Downloaded golden compass with an 800Mb bin file and a 5kb cue file. I've used both commands:
vcdgear -bin2mpg goldcomp.bin goldcomp.mpg
vcdgear -cue2mpg goldcomp.cue goldcomp.mpg

But no luck. says: Source file could not be opened or accessed.

Any ideas. I'm not very familiar with using terminal and unix commands

i may not be helpful but i always used a program called SVCD2DVD by "chrissy boy", when converting bin/cue files although i used it on a windows os, it may be available in a mac platfrom,

there is a forum link on the SVCD2DVD web site where you can talk to chrissy boy - he is the god of conversions.

also, nero (if available for mac) does a good job of bin/cue files too.

I'm more curious as to WHAT you've downloaded cos 800mb isn't big enough for The Golden Compass unless it's been re-encoded into a wacky format at a shitty bitrate, like KVCD or something even more stupid or it's an xvid file - and xvids don't come as a bin/cue. This is probably why you can't open it as well. Try and find a "proper" scene release of it instead of something that's been messed with and you're rockin'

VCDEasy Commercial Version .used it for years untill everyone wised up and went to xvid.

if you don't know how to get it ,just quit now.
