i tried vdub but it wont save as mpg....and i refuse to fuck with any tmpeg apps.....i have canopus pro 2.0 that i can reinstall

what apps have good filters without having to frame serve(i will if i have to though)?....

I'm a big fan of Sorenson Squeeze (Mac/PC version), which I use to convert from raw DV to h264 for web use. Not the most filters ever, it's more for doing video that's already finalised.. but there's a few options on there to mess about with.

What do you mean by levels? Adjustments like brightness/contrast?

You cannot adjust the levels on an MPG without re-encoding. Why don't you check the video overlay settings in your graphics card drivers? Normally a few option in there.
