Beat maker?

Have some time on my hands now that my exams are over. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a beat making program which is fairly user friendly but also pretty good?

acid pro is a good beginner tool! I used to use it mainly for making bootleg tracks etc.
But if you wanna take the bull by the horns have a go with Fruitloops or Cakewalk

word. that's why i said if he intends to pirate to go with the other apps. you can get a really cheap mbox with protools for $300ish in some places. worth the money just for the software, and it ain't a bad card either depending on what you'll be using it for.
