I've got a friend in the USA who has moved and no longer has a land line, just their mobile. If I were to call their mobile, they would be charged for receiving the call just like if i'm being called on my mobile from someone outside the UK (my phone bill was huge when I went skiing because I kept speaking to people back in the UK).

Does anyone know if using a calling card would stop them being charged for receiving my call?

I've tried to get responses from the companies selling these cards but it seems they can't be arsed to give me an answer and their faqs are terrible

I really miss talking to my mate and don't want them to be charged for talking to me!

You can only use a calling card if you're using a lan line. If you use your Cell it's still going to charge your cell company the regular roaming charges. Usually within your country you don't get charged roaming, but once you go outside of your country you get raped.

Para i'll ask her about her contract, though reading up on different contracts gets a bit confusing as you have air time for this & thats, some charge both parties in the call, some don't etc..

Neversoft, tbh I didn't even think about that. I'll have a read up on Skype and see if and charges are incurred for her recieving the call. She has no internet so no free calls that way.
