I watched this last night. The quality is perfect, but the movie is a bore-fest. IMHO, don't waste yer time with this flick. Ed Harris is a great actor and he should just do that. But he not only stars in this movie, but directs, produces and sings the closing song. Talk about kissing your own arssss.

Well, I would have to disagree with tophand. This wasnt the best movie ever but it was a good western IMO.
I wish they had cast someone other then Renée Zellweger for the role of Allison French. Her face looks like a pimple being popped. It always looks squished.

Yes, tophand is dead wrong about this movie ppl so don't let his comments deter you from watching this one. The video is top notch, the audio is all in sync and the movie itself really is quite good. I'm not even a fan of western style movies but this one is worth your time.

Audio - 9

This can be a really good movie - all someone has to do is edit out all the scenes with Renée Zellweger in them!
Sadly, Ed Harris had to try and show the world he could play a romantic role...it ruined a perfectly good western.

I have to agree with tophand, this movie is TERRIBLE. I understand that everyone has different opinions about movies, but dear lord, after seeing this picture I fail to understand how anyone can defend it. By all means check it out for your selves, but I feel certain most will be of the same opinion.

I'll jump in with my 2cents for whats its worth. I found the movie wonderful, were talking about a western.
I think they showed the great parallel between those that who made the law & the law breakers. Showing two friends (hired guns) who are hired to be the law.Maybe not everyone's type of movie but I have seen much worse these days. imo
Gotta like Jeremy Irons
forgot..Renée isnt worth talken about

Video and audio quality are good.

Movie - Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen, and Jeremy Irons make decent cowboys, but the story was so long and drawn out, quite frankly, it bored the hell out of me.

Whose idea was it to cast Renee Zellweger? Her eyes are so squinty she looks Chinese, her cheeks make her look like a hamster stuffing its face, and she's got Mr. Spock eyebrows. She never used to look like that. I mean, she was cute in "Jerry Maguire", but not anymore. I would've preferred to see someone like Julianne Moore as Allie French.

This film was worse than "Open Range" and "3:10 to Yuma". For a good time, check out some old Clint Eastwood westerns.

good western

This movie is not as bad as some claim, but it does have its flaws.

The first hour of the film is a chore to get through as not much goes on and viewers learn little about the main charters. The second hour is where the film finally picks up steam balancing between character study and western, which answers a lot of questions about the characters such as who they are, where they came from, and what drives them to do what they do.

If you can make it through the first half of the film you are in for a satisfyin second half. That said....

V - 9
A - 9
M - 7.5

BTW - I'm not a big fan of Renee, but she is far more watchable than Maggie Gyllenhaal, that BI#%$ almost ruined the Dark Knight because I kept confusing her with the joker
