That CBR from the second encode should give you a hint that the person responsible doesn't have the slightest clue on what he does there.
BaLD encode has wrong AR, though, should be 2.35:1 according to IMDB... is this one Open Matte or is it cropped to 16:9?
You are right. CBR on xvid should only be used with AC3 rips. I am not sure if KingBens release is AC3, I severely doubt it though, so encoding this bloats the file a bit. The resolution for the video is nice, but really not needed.
My guess this release was taken from a p2p source, converted to DVD and sold or uploaded from the street to BaLD with claim that it was legit. I wouldnt want to point a finger and claim BaLD downloaded the release directly from a p2p source, but it has been on p2p for a week now. I personally havent had anytime to grab it yet.
From what the sample looks like on the BaLD rls it is Open Matte and just given the 16:9 bars, not actually encoded to 16:9. I only grabbed the sample to be coherent to this conversation.
Overall I am glad this is out because theaters near me have stopped showing this and I love westerns.
