All you need is an adapter for your chunky UK plug, or swap it with a continental one altogether if you plan on staying there permanently. I use UK appliances all over Europe all the time, it's never been a problem. If you're still worried check the AC adapter of your laptop (the box in between plug and laptop). It should state what input voltage is safe - usually it's a range from around 100-240V and both 50Hz or 60Hz work.
