Unhappy Crackling subwoofer

Any idea what could be causing a problem with my pc speakers.

I have these: http://www.edifier.com/eng2005/prod...ker/r351/01.jpg

I've had them for about three years and they have never really moved, with the subwoofer to the right of my monitor and the satelite speakers spread around a smallish office.

I got an iPhone over xmas and whenever it rings the subwoofer makes an almighty reverb/crackle.

I no longer put my phone anywhere near the subwoofer but the crackling is happening all the time now, particularly when I touch the HDMI/DVI connection at the back of my PC.

Any ideas as as I've grown fond of my slice of early 2k chic

It's love baby!

Sounds like a shielding problem or possible your system is grounded. Disconnect all the cables and reconnect them, possible rerouting them if you can. I've had similar problems in the past with some of my systems and many times it was a simple matter of moving the sub or cables around though I did have to end up replacing one due to poor shielding.

Will bottom for marmosets

If that doesn't work pop down to Maplins/Radioshack/Wherever and get some clip on ferrites (link) - they'll work to reduce interference in the signal; might do the job.

Will do mate. I'm going to have a crack at it tomorrow and if Candys budget fix doesn't work I'll head off to Maplins.

Thanks

The Dark Knight

try checking to make sure that your speaker wires aren't running along side any power cables, that was always an issue for me.
the cracking before you get a call is very common, the iphone is GSM and for some reason, im not sure why, it causes interference before you get a call, i think it does the same for texts. (CDMA doesn't do this.)
