Thay particular guide is slightly out-of-date. Choosing Blu-ray disk output in the current version of tsMuxeR will prevent playback on PS3 and some Blu-ray standalones. See here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146339
There is now a separate create AVCHD disk option in tsMuxeR

I've yet to try it to be honest but i did download the software and noticed the avchd box there.

mkv2vob also gives the option of AVCHD to either disc or usb stick.

only problem i believe though is the file your converting has to be of the std bluray resolutions, eg 1920x1080, 1280x720 and not one of those obscure resolutions that can occur with mkv releases, otherwise you will get a horrible green bar along the bottom of the screen during playback.

multiAVCHD is a GUI suite of programs which includes tsMuxeR and uncropMKV which will sort out resolution conflicts for you.
