It's love baby!

Seems that movie studios are moving away from VHS screeners though more than likely they'll continued to be used as they are quicker and easier to use than DVDs for screening purposes when time is a major constraint.

While there are less and less VHS screeners and more and more mislabeled releases they aren't *quite* dead yet, just mostly. Another five or so years and I'd say it would be safe to say it's extinct, some older people just like the old technology their used to and some of those people are part of the academy/ratings group.

"Today (9/20/08) I received from Warner Bros. the first offer of the option to choose Blu-Ray disks, rather than straight DVDs. Since I haven't transitioned to HDTV yet, I won't go there, at least this year. I was wondering when the studios would start to go this way with these screeners. By next year I expect these offers to become the norm, although it did take several years for DVDs to replace VHS tapes totally and become the standard medium.".............

this is from ken rudolph's site....now i consider him old school as he is not into bd as yet......quality comments coming from the average joe talk about vhs screeners....what they mean in my eyes is vhs quality like when not so long ago you would copy a vhs tape several times and end up with a poor quality result....but i cant imagine where a vhs tape would be used now....every screening room would be set up for digital presentation whether on hard disc or dvd disc.....

most studios today deliver screeners in DVD or H264 quicktime format.

in a post production environment lots of h264 screeners are transfered via ftp these days. (and then deleted after being watched etc)

i highly doubt theres many vhs screeners still around lol

They cost a lot more to make, because it's a digital conversion to analog. That's why some VHS tapes when they were first released cost up to $100

DVD's when they are first released they cost $15 VHS movies cost $100 Because it is A LOT more work.

I remember when T2 was released on Laserdisk it was $25 or so, and VHS it was $80-$100 My parents bought it used for $30 on VHS
