Following the DVDScreener thread about movies for 2003...

Daredevil looks 50/50. Personally i think it will smell. Though pHo is right, i was flicking through a couple of magazines the other day and 2003 could be pure shit, waaaay too many sequels.

I put together a little list of movies i think will be shit-hot for 2003 and a few i think will smell really bad. Oh, and they are in no particular order, just 10 choices.

6. Lord Of The Rings : Return Of The King
7. The Magic Roundabout Movie
8. Red Dwarf : The Movie
9. S.W.A.T.

Le Salon de Slippers Tips These To Smell For 2003:

You think Nemesis is gonna blow?? I really think its gonna be downright awesome!!! I mean, they turned RE1 into a good flick, and Nemesis has an even better storyline.... I don't know bout you, but this is my 2nd highest anticipated movies, 2nd only to Wrong Turn

So I run into him a week later in the mall and he’s buying another cat and I says to ‘em "Jesus Walt, what are you doing? You know your just gonna get this cat stuck up your ass too, why don’t you knock it off?" And he says to me "Brodie, how the hell else am I supposed to get the gerbil out?" My cousin was a weird guy....

King of Wales

*Slaps Slippers*

I have to take you up on numerous counts

First the 'Le Salon de Slippers Tips These Goodies For 2003'

3. Charlies Angels : Full Throttle - You ARE joking right? I'm sorry but this movie will be nothing but eye candy with wooden acting. By all accounts the script is shite and even McG wanted to jump ship when he found out it was that or Superman. Besides no Bill Murrey? Pff. Will stink!

6. Lord Of The Rings : Return Of The King - Meh! I'll be glad when this series is over! Pure tedium with some cool fight scenes chucked in. Its cool to like these films which is why nobody calls them for what they really are. Pure overhyped tedium

8. Red Dwarf : The Movie - Will never make it to the screens in 2003. Trust me it wont!!

Heres some stuff that should have gone in the list

Darkness Falls
A Decade under the Influence
Le Divorce
Dogville
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
George and the Dragon
God and Generals
I love your work
11:14
Battle Royale 2
Bruce Almighty

'Le Salon de Slippers Tips These To Smell For 2003:'

1. Daredevil - Ok i'm gonna defend this till opening night because i REALLY want to see this. From those who have seen the script this is supposed to be THE BEST superhero script put into production. Better than Donner's Superman, Burton's Batman and Raimi's Spiderman. The only concerns are Afflecks acting ability but i'm willing to give him the benifit of the doubt.

5. Bad Boys 2 - Noooooooo *Slaps Slippers*. I'm gonna love this film. I love the trailer and everything that has been dug up so far points to this being better than the first....and i LOVE the first! *Slaps Slippers again* Grrrrrrrr!

9. Incredible Hulk - I'm not leaning one way or another on this but with the ammount of Talent on board i'm hoping for the best. Without even a decent trailer out i'm not gonna judge but i have my fingers crossed. Ang cant let us down. Can he?

Right...Rant over. I dissagree with some stuff but you know your the chief so if you take back Bad Boys 2 we'll be ok

Yeah, Dogville looks very promising. Likewise with Battle Royale 2.

I dunno, i think the whole Superhero movie thing is being overdone. And although i will go see those movies anyway, i just don't think they will be as big as they should be. I dunno, time will tell i guess.

Red Dwarf i hope will be out this year, it says 2003, so lets keep our fingers crossed!

LOTRIII, likewise i want the series over with, but thats why i put it in the non-smell pile, because it'll be finally over.

I think Charlies Angels will do really well, no Bill Murray bothers me somewhat but i guess we'll see. Eye candy is the main reason i wanna see it so fnuh lol.

I saw the original Bad Boys at the cinema, and i loved it. After watching it a few times since, i have really gone off the movie. With 2003 being most definitely the year of the sequel, and yet another 'buddy' movie with one-liners and whatever, i don't hold much hope for this movie. But if it turns out to be good? Cool.

And Sven, the first RE was garbage, albeit probably the best VG to Screen movie ever made. But it was boring. Nemesis i don't hold much hope for. Especially releasing it so soon after the first, sounds like a rush job.

god bless america... Wrong Turn is being released on my 17th birthday

Hulk, and Bad Boys will be good... Daredevil will be a fun ride, legally blonde will be good for Reese's Git and Knits, but i agree with everything else you said though my hopes are up for T3

and battle royale 2 is gunna be sweet. Nananahara's story better be over so we go back to the island...

Supreme Movie Overlord

Ok.. This is my Hot Picks for 2003, like Slippers they are in no particular order:

A Man Apart (Formally Known as El Diablo)--I know its Vin Diesel and yes the movie has been available to us peons for months, but I wouldn't mind sitting in the theatre with the action.

Hollywood Homicide--Harrison Ford back in a roll that he was born to play. Supercool detective. Film also co-stars Josh Hartnett (will be a superstar someday) and Master P

Jersey Girl--Yes this is the Ben Af/J Lo romance, directed by Kevin Smith. One of the other main attractions is Liv Tyler, a super mega babe who makes my top 10 list anytime.

Lara Craft and the Cradle of Life (Tombraider2)-- Yes I am a sucker for those lips, body, but I am especially excited since Jan Debont(Twister, Speed) has come aboard to direct.

Xmen2--Yes another sequel that has the makings of mega-blockbuster. Has more action, more babes, and just simple madness for Xmen fanatics

Intolerable Cruelty--Yes its a George Clooney movie (barf), but he has worked with some of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, and he takes the cake in this one, with Catherine Zeta Jones

Bad Boys2--Yes, I am diffently looking forward to this one, yes its a sequel, and yes it stars Smith and Lawrence, but Michael Bay is once again directing this movie, and for action fanatics, he is one of the best.

Dreamcatcher--This movie has makings to becoming sleeper hit of 2003. Read the plot, and the cast is solid.

The Hulk--yes a superhero movie, but with Ang Lee at the Helm, you can't go wrong..Also catch Lou Ferigno, the original hulk as a security guard

Matchstick Men--another Nicholas Cage movie, but this time, he teams up with Gladiator director Ridley Scott

and yes Charlies Angels:Full Throttle-A sequel that has all the makings as being hot as the original. Yes no Bill Murray, but McG is back behind the camera, and producer Drew also cast the Olsen twins in the movie as well. Movie can't fail.

I really don't have misses as of yet for 2003, but will post em soon

Movies to Watch for:

Levity--cause it stars Kirsten Dunst, alongs with Billy Bob, Morgan Freeman, and Holly Hunter

Resident Evil:Nemesis--I did like the original, and sequel has all the makings of being better than the first

Neverland--I have never been a huge fan of Johnny Depp, but lately his movies have clicked, and this one has hit written all over it.

Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King--nuff said.

Shockeronnie, no mention of any Matrix sequels on an internet forum about forthcoming movies.

/me slaps you all.

Seriously though, looking forward to them, Dreamcatcher and The Hulk. Dunno, maybe it's just me but everything thats been mentioned so far doesn't really fill me with excitement. There's no really big movie that's gonna have all the newguys pm'ing us to find out where to get it!

But Red Dwarf, I can wait, I'm not an impatient man. )this year, pleeeeeeeeeeeeese?)

You realize this is a Coen brothers film right? I don't see how you can go wrong from the makers of 'The Big Lebowski' 'Fargo' 'O Brother Where Art Thou' 'Raising Arizona' 'The Man Who Wasn't There' and 'Blood Simple'

Writing it off as just 'a George Clooney movie' is a really big understatement.

As for Levity, have to wait and see on that one, the directorial debut from one of the writers of 'Men in Black' and 'Charlie's Angels' along with 'super mario brothers' and 'bill and ted (both of them)'

Noticeably omitted from the lists include:

Cold Mountain: Civil War Drama from the director of 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' and 'The English Patient' starring Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zelweger, Natalie Portman, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and others

Kill Bill: Quentin Tarantino, enough said.

Now, on the RANDOM sequels that will most likely (read why are they making them) suck front:

Freddy vs. Jason
Exorcist: The Beginning
Timecop 2
Havana Nights: Dirty Dancing 2

Kill Bill looks fucking amazing... you CAN'T go wrong with Tarentino... i love all the movies he directed, he has yet to fail... though producing dusk till dawn 2 and 3, was a biiiig problem..

uma may has a fucked up nose.. but with lui in there with here, and Kung Fu himself in there with them.. you can't go wrong...

that's one of my most anticipated movies of the year.

Yes before I forget....that Freedy and Jason has have the buzz of being a huge hit, and may resurrect the much needed Nightmare on Elm Street series, which was cool in my book.

so far
1) City of God
2) (Yadon ilaheyya) Divine Intervention

both independant films no one mentioned, but are creating a buzz. Most of the blockbuster films others mentioned won't live up to their hype and will be a complete disappointment.

Daredevil suddenly doesnt look so hot

I was previously psyched to see some decent actors in what seemed to be a good movie. I just watched the most recent DareDevil preview and it seems to have some really corny lines in it. Tell me what you think guys:

City Of God has already been released in the UK, hence i didn't mention it. It was on ltd rls in UK, but i got the ESO Screener and loved that movie heaps.

But as i've already seen it, i'm not looking forward to it. But yeah, thanks to pHo's forcing me to watch it, i watched it and it's awesome.
