I capture your hurt

The most influential albums

Anyone got any ideas on this one ,here are a few of mine
Rust never sleeps - Neil Young, without which we would probably have had no Nirvana.
Dreamkid - Sutherland Brothers and Quiver,
Probably provided the most covers ever.
Its a Beautiful day - Its a Beautiful day ,plagiarized by everyone from Zeppelin to Purple
Paranoid - Black sabbath , most cloned band ever.
Forever changes - Love, influenced just about everybody from 67' onwards.(Robert Plant does some great covers from this album)
Also i have had the great pleasure of seeing this performed live by the late great Arther Lee.

I'm so emo

I would have to just say The Beatles. Every band wanted to be them, but no one ever came close.

I gotta say you're right in the sense that they inspired a lot of people and musicians alike but musically the only group I can think of that they influenced is oasis, the Beatles themselves drew their influence from people like Smokey Robinson and John Lee hooker and other soul and blues musicians some well known and some very obscure.
You're also spot on about no-one coming close most of their music still sounds fresh today considering I've been listening to it on and off for 46 years.

Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, Rolling Stones, Clapton.. all influenced by the Beatles directly in their music, and that's only what I can think of off the top of my head at 5AM.

Good pick on The Beatles para, and gezzer I have to agree on Neil Young as cheesy as it can be hey hey my my is one of my fav songs of all time , few honorable mentions from me:

Rage Against The Machine (pick your album of choice here)
Simon & Garfunkle
Pixies

Simon and Garfunkel - bookends brilliant album
rage against the machine are ok but to me they are just aerosmith with a super distortion pedal.
Pixies i have got to be honest and say I have never really listened to them.

Clapton was never influenced by the Beatles did play lead guitar on while my guitar gently weeps tho. His influences were all blues based ,He was the only white person ever allowed to cover bob marley.Lead on the classic layla was Duane Allman.I could go on but i wo'nt.

Oh yeah got tickets to see him in may

I loved the classics like Muddy Waters, BB King, Etta James, Billie Holiday. Blues and Jazz influenced a lot of music.

One of my all time favorite musicians is Diana Krall which she is Jazz, and you can tell she was influenced by the oldies. Damn she's amazing.

That's an extremely popular album ever since I could remember. Not under hyped here.

Got to agree with you about the blues musicians ,Duane Allman greatest guitarist ever in my book played a lot with BB king.Jazz I just don't get even when Zappa who i love did it.
John Lee hooker is my favorite of the old blues masters.

I think Kurt Cobain should have died much sooner than he did. I could not stand Nirvana. Never really cared for any grunge bands, except for Alice in Chains and maybe a couple others.

Now see I thought I was in the minority when I say "Wish You Were Here" is my favorite Floyd CD.

Todays mainstream music isn't even tolerable, it's went down the shitter in the past few decades, 80's was shit, 90's was a bit better but still shit, 00's is complete and utter garbage.

Today you have to turn the radio off and listen to Internet radio to find decent bands.

Yep.. as much as I love Comfortably Numb (and other songs!), this is just an all-round better album for me to listen to start to finish.
