I think you have to remember that the TTT is the middle of 'long' book, and FOTR is the beginning, therefore it's very difficult (for me at least) to say which is superior.

FOTR has much more of a plot, and much more of a "human" side to it, with the introduction of the characters, and their "bonding" to one-another.

Also, it's more like a real adventure with an unknown path. The characters traversed many more "different/unknown worlds or roads" if you will.

TTT is more straight-forward, and the audience knows more or less where each character is headed. It just didn't feel like they "traversed" or "adventured" as far or long in the second installment.

The movie was focused more on the battles and the physical. In that, TTT is an epic (which could have been made to have more of an impact if it were a little more grapic, along the lines of Braveheart. So it would've been R rated then. Screw the little kids, it's not a really a childrens story anyhow-- this aint Harry Snotter).

Also, PJ strayed the story in TTT more than he did in FOTR, which I wasn't too crazy about.

All that said, I give a slight razors edge to TTT, becasue I'm a bit more enticed by action, and those scenes were nonetheless stupendous.

I can't wait for the extended DVD release to come because I'm sure there will be alot more in it than there was in the FOTR extended.

The two towers sucked

20% of it was not in the book

and the stuff that was replaced was crap , i mean when those star wars looking brown thing attacks them and aragorn goes missing , I dont remember that

Also the action bits were like rambo , cheesy jokes and stupid moves

The fellowship is gr8 , The extended TTT better be gud

uhhh those star wars brown things being the Worg's i believe. They were in a book. The Hobbit, so they are part of Middle-Earth's lore.

The Life Aquatic

the two towers is way better than the fellowship of the rings..

I know people will say that the two towers is dumb b/c it didn't follow the book completely....

and the action in two towers was really bad ass and the background imagery..like the lanscapes were hella sick ...tight shit man..

i'm really lookin forward to the return of the king..

im pretty sure it will be the best out of the whole trilogy!

a bigger battle!...more killin

Okay, My updated few on the feelings of the films is:

Two Towers i like less probably because it's impossible to literally like more as a movie. It has no beginning nor end, therefore it was technically done better than Fellowship of the Ring to be so close to it in my tastes, but the movie has the hollywood feel and leaves you with no introduction or conclusion. I'm also not a huge fan of big action-packed movies, which would be another reason i liked Fellowship of the Ring better.

In short, The Two Towers was better in technical achievement, and they did incredible things (and not so incredible) by making a book that largely involved an incredibly low action book up to the end. Adding the scene with the Worgs was required just to keep the movie from becoming a complete snooze.

Pretty much my thoughts, FoTR is a movie I've seen at least a dozen times and actually own the real DVD, as for TTT I only managed one viewing. Now LotR is one of my favorite series of all time and The Two Towers is my favorite book of the series so I was a little biased when I went to see it, though I managed to not expect much since I had seen the trailers for it. I knew I would have some problems but I thought that I could at least enjoy some of it, boy was I wrong though. To keep this from turning into a 5 page rant on how much I hate the movie, I shall just mention that I saw it on the opening day and at the end of the movie after forcing myself to watch all of it, most of the audience was cheering loudly to show that they liked it, so I stood up and booed as loudly as I could. I also went to the ticket counter to try and get my money back, though I knew I wouldn't I was quite upset from the movie so I wanted to let them know my opinion.

Although everybody is entitled to their own opinion, frankly I am unable to see how anybody liked that movie. Hell even my gf, who has never even touched the series (and pretty much the only science fiction movies she likes are the Matrix, the Fifth Element, and the Star Wars trilogy) and she thought it sucked and was quite horrible. Just my two cents.
