bleh!

Video: 5 (watchable)
Audio: 5 (not very good, not too bad)
Movie: 4 (I was thinking that this would be a good slasher film, but it was just a little too cheesy for me. The movie could have been much better, albeit the kills were great. On the other hand, it's a hell of a lot better than Jason X and Freddy's Dead combined.)

Like someone else said, "At least it is out there".
First time I get a sample this soon after release and it is crappy.
Pixelated and washed out. Might look better on standalone.
The sound I just can't handle. That hiss drives me up a wall.

5/2/9

I saw this in the theaters last nite and the movie stays true to both Freddy and Jason's earlier movies. Yes, some parts are cheesy but I thought that is what was expected. I think they did a good job molding the 2 movies together.

First I have to agree that the picture and sound are sub-standard for this release. By the way I am agreeing with logistics, who said this in the NFO for their interntal release, not with the folks here who are dissing the release.
Secondly, thank you for using SVCD every single time you can (espceially if it's still only 2 disks). Listen guys, there are many reasons for encoding to SVCD, not the least of which is---it's better wuality, always. Figure it out! It's encoded to a higher resolution. Unless these TSs are made on a web cam they are going to be closer to their original resolution with SVCD. Another major factor is that APEX has dropped support VCD, but still supports SVCD strong. So if you want to watch on a stand alone (which with this type of grain and pixelation you do) then you have to have an SVCD if you plan on using a new APEX player. Do I want to convert a crap quality vcd like this to an SVCD myself (not getting any better quality, just reencoding the lower resolution ot the format, bleh) just to watch it on stand alone? A RESOUNDING NO!
So anyways, I wish the negative asses on here would find things to bitch about that actually made some sense.

Thanks for the early release Logictics, thanks for the SVCD, and thanks for knowing the quality doesn't meet your standards and keeping it INTERNAL.

Props to L0giStic for being the first to release.A lot of people going mad about this so i thought I'd take a look.I just zoomed through it but i have to say the sound is fairly buzzy maybe even can be described as a CAM.The picture is pretty fuzzy but those complaining about it being SVCD imagine what it would look like without the higher bitrate.
5/5/?

Agree with you 110%. However, there is a hardware hack for the APEX to enable VCD views. Search Google.

Encoding to SVCD does not always result in better quality. Most non-MiniDV/Analog camcorders don't even capture up to 480 lines of horizontal resolution so stretching the res. during encoding will result in poor quality. Even most of the low end/cheaper MiniDV cams are only capable of 525-640 lines of horizontal res. which when encoded to mpeg2 would result in more visible grainy/noisy video, a factor which is actually beneficial to the VCD format since it softens/reduces noise better than mpeg2 without using filters which would blur too much on that type of source. Higher res cams are great for mpeg2 since it retains the sharpness and doesn't produce as much grains. Apex may have also dropped support for SVCD BUT the majority of standalone DVD Players out there still do support VCD even more so than the amount that supports SVCD which is a small number in comparison. Also the result of high quality SVCD is not only dependant of the source, the encoder must have some encoding experience. I'm not bashing loGiStic but even their high quality sources like The Italian Job suffered from poor/inexperienced encoding and plagued by soft/pixelated video (especially during high motion/color scenes). Both of which could have been fixed by maybe using a different resizer and upping the number of passes or motion detection up a notch. American Wedding TS is a recent example of how encoding to SVCD didn't make much of an improvement over the VCD version. And as for this release, I don't usually commend groups who put it out first in subpar quality so I won't. Quality -> 4/2/?

Reggie loves tacos.

The worst part about the video on this release is not the pixelation; it is the darkness. In the beginning it's REALLY dark, and it is hard to make out what is going on. Also, the colors are very washed out/faded, and there's no sound for the first 15 seconds or so. The buzz goes in and out, on the audio, but you can still understand what's going on. The video is also majorly cropped, so sometimes the character that's speaking isn't on the screen.

Edit: I'm not complaining, just reviewing the quality.

Im glad its out there , Im glad its available, but what I am not happy about is the fact that the movie is missing scenes when the go to the hosipitial to get the drugs the thing jumps from scene to scene. The quality of the video is washed the sound was so bad i had to turn down my trebel to 0 just to be able to watch it, if you are in a major rush dl this if not wait for sumtin better.

Well the pic and the audio are just not up to standards.
Audio is really bad.
The movie itself is excellent.
