Just thought I would add an update for anyone who cares. I went out to my local store and picked up some Fujifilm DVD-R 8x Speed blank dvds. So far I have burned 4 different movies. 3 of those movies I have never burned before and 1 of them I have and it had skipped. Out of the 4 movies, none of them skipped. I did have one of the movies audio go out of sync for the first half, kinda weird, but that was not the disc problem. I definatly reccomend these disc of the Memorex. Thanks for all the help guys, glad I got this problem solved.

Admin?

Glad we could help. Also, that DVD going out of sync... Try pausing the playback for a few seconds then unpause it - works on my player on the (rare) occaisions it gets it's head up it's ass.

I use fujifilm discs too..the japanese ones (light purple on top), which use the taiyo yuden dye...swear by them, never had one coaster yet. It might be tempting to buy the cheapest disc you can find, but in the long run ive found it pays dividends to shell out that extra 2p per disc...glad you got it sorted.

Sweet, I will try that sync fix. I am converting an avi to dvd format using winavi and neither of those have a sync problem. When I put it on disc it looses sync for like half of the first half of the movie. Stupid problems, I will try that out though.

I figured when it came to buying blank DVDS, unlike blank CDs, buying cheap would be bad. So I went with Memorex thinking they were high quality. Lesson learned...

I made the mistake of buying the budget crap, ever since I bought "Datawrite" and they are very good. Costs a little more but worth it. Where are you based? UKDVDR and Bigpockets are a good source for them.

That's why I mentioned em... The Datawrite Grey on Fuji dye are flawless. I can't remember ever having a bad burn with them and my NEC3500, although I'm sure I have... Once

for the past few months ive been using 8x datawrite yellow. they are absolutely perfect and work on almost any player ever made (well, probably). ive done copies for around 30 different friends and not one person has said they are glitchy or faulty in any way. they also play perfectly on my PS2, arianet dvd player, and LG DR4810 dvd recorder

I also had a similar problem. I have burned many dvd's with my NEC, I use Ritek ridata g04 branded dvd's 8x. I would burn the same movie on my desktop computer with nero or dvd decrypter , but if I burn the movie on my dell laptop which uses a sony dvd+-RW DW D56A I get skipping. any ideas?

Hi guys i have used a variety of Disc's and in most cases have found the BEST solution is to burn at a slower speed even 2x, i have had disc's fail at a higher speed but work OK when burn't at 2x,also the xvid avi is usually converted by Nero when you burn the movie, so that should not be the problem, if you use Nero 6,I have never had a problem, with an Avi not playing, but speed definately does effect the outcome
