Seems fine to me, too.
As I understand it, this is not a "re-encode of a re-encode of a re-encode".. everyone's taking from the same original source. It just seems that SG18 is the only one to actually go through and fix the problems, like the audio sync, aspect ratio, blank scenes, repeating scenes, etc.
It's a little fuzzy if you're used to SVCDs, since it's VCD from VHS source, but still.. very watchable. Excellent sound, too.. I had a stack of old VHS tapes sitting on top of my subwoofer. The operative word being "had".. they fell off during the opening battle, from the vibrations.
At first, I was annoyed that they'd left the counter in place, but I think I prefer that to the blurred-out counters of some of the other releases. The blur changes from scene to scene, and the odd motion is enough to draw attention to it. Whereas the counter stays constant, never changing, and as a result it's easily ignored after the first couple of minutes.
Excellent release, I think. This one should hold me for quite a while.
