i was confused, too.
this is actually the 3rd movie adaptation (if not 4th or 5th) of the story of what happened on that flight.
last summer, give or take a couple months, another movie entitled "United 93" which was made for tv was aired. i honestly cannot remember the channel it was on at all, but i remember seeing a couple commercials for it so i TiVo'ed and watched it last year, like i said - possibly 12 months ago.
***** EDIT: my memory may be fried because i am starting to think it may have been in the fall or winter i saw it, nonetheless i still think this isn't the same one, obviously, because it's a theater release. also, i know the dvdrip from A&E isn't the one i saw because the director approached it differently, Todd Beamer was wearing a hockey jersey and a backwards cap in the one i saw a long time ago, and i still think it may have been on Discovery HD *****
for some reason my mind wants to remember it being on Discovery HD but another part of me says that it was a TNT or A&E-made flick instead.
***** EDIT: That DVDRip is an A&E version so the other TV version i saw was definately not by them, and although not on IMDB, i don't think, i'm still 99% certain it was in 2005 that i TiVo'ed it *****
at any rate, that was the very first movie-adaptation. in that version, at least, that i saw, i remember the person who played Todd Beamer, was wearing a hockey jersey.
of course, i saw the dvdr of the "flight 93" that was just rls'ed last week and honestly, i don't think it was as good at all. it was too over-dramatic (how can i call a movie like this too dramatic? - i ask myself the same question but i did find it that way).
so this movie comes along, actually goes to the theaters, huh? looks decent but nothing to write home about in terms of quality.
unless this is the same version that i TiVo'ed at home a long time ago last year, then this is at least the 3rd movie adaptation of this same true story, so i honestly have no will to watch it as it's getting old. i wish multiple directors made their own versions of movies i love, or true stories at that as well. seems hollywood just can't keep their greedy hands off making money from this film when they had to have known other versions had been made which is rather pathetic if you ask me.
first tv version i saw (also called "United 93" i'm almost 100% sure):
video: 10
audio: 10
movie: 8.25
"Flight 93" STV from TV that just rls'ed last week or so:
video: 10
audio: 10
movie: 7.5
this version of "United 93" judging by a sampling:
video: 5
audio: 7.5
movie: n/a
