The audio is GREAT direct audio when you fix it!

I've seen this problem before, you just need to open the audio file with audacity or some other program and invert one of the channels. then it sounds nice and clear with the bass and stuff intact.
but of course you have to also use a program like virtual dub to put the fixed audio back into the .avi file.

V: 8
A: 10 (when fixed)

I personally think this is direct audio, besides at around 2:26 you hear something like a cough...

but it could be line noise. which is heard alot the 1st 3 minutes, and then randomly throughout...

To think anyone would filter cam audio and then take the time to lower the volume and up it at random parts seems crazy... It sounds more like a bad fm signal or kinda like when a vhs tape gets a bit stretched and it causes spikes, or even a protected dvd running through a vhs that has macrovision protection... ill bet on FM wasnt tuned in right...

Seems like something was cut, 1ce at the 3-5 min mark and maybe something around 10-15 towards the end

the movie only had spanish subs (some added after the recording) but the pic is great, i didnt find the movie that great, but some parts are halarious, it was short, its could be better, if the english subs significantly add to the experience...

7.5/5/7

CAM audio, Direct Audio whatever. Another release of this should not have been done till the English forced Subs we're sorted.

Just mho, tell me to quack off.lol, but this release is for naught without ENG forced subs.

Rate this?? The same bloody Spanish source as the last .

This would be half watchable if someone could make some englidh subs instead of the hardcoded spanish ones. Any offers to make some ?

V=6.0, -> for this docu-style movie it's good enough
A=3.5, sound horrible -> can't almost make something out of it.
M=?, hoping for a copy with better audio, so I can laugh.

Bottomline: I thinks it's a CAM with the audience sound filtered out.

<<< This should be nuked for incomplete, it skips a part in the beginning>>

You have to separate the left/right channels in Audacity, then select one of the channels, go to Effects->Invert. However, there's not a lot of point to this; inevitably when you have this sort of audio inversion it means that both channels are the same mono track, only one is inverted. (I think this is some sort of movie theater anti-piracy effort; works out great, huh? :P) You'll get a same-sounding result by using a custom channel mapping to play back the movie in, say, Media Player Classic. Just go to Options, select "Audio Switchers" on the left, then click "enable custom channel mapping. Pick check the Front Left and Front Right boxes under Channel 1 and uncheck the same boxes under Channel 2. Just remember to disable "custom channel mapping" after you're done with the movie.

Do you mean like subs that go over the spanish subs, or subs to translate the spanish subs and are placed at the bottom of the screen?

But you stated you will get the same-sounding result??

Also if a video has flicker in it i heard you could fix that too

how would you do that?

heres what i do, its not the best programs but it works and sounds the way it should.

open the file in virtual dub
click file>> "save wav...
open the .wav file in audacity
in audacity, on the very left of the blue wave thing there will be a down arrow
click that and click split stereo track
then the two channels are divided. with the light gray thing on the very left.
for the right channel, click at the beginning of it (you may want to zoom in first)
click edit >> select >> cursor to end.
(at that point the whole right channel should be highlighted. click effect >> invert (wait for it to finish).
click the down arrow next to the blue waves thing again (the one for the left channel) and click make stereo track.
click file >> preferences. click file format tab. make sure the mp3 audio is at at least 128k, click ok
click file >> export as mp3 (if that doesn't work then just export as wave (may be around 1.2gb in size, but you re-encode that later)
then i use imtoo mpeg encoder to make it a wave container with mp3 audio @ 128k stereo. (there are better programs for this, but i don't know what they are, i don't do this much)
drag the .wav into imtoo mpeg's white area, click the file in imtoo mpeg that you dragged in.
then for the profile choose WAV. on the right were it says stuff like bitrate, sample rate... Set the "audio codec" to mp3 (don't make the profile mp3, keep it as wav), bitrate to 128k, sample to 44.1khz, channels to 2
then choose the destination and click encode
when encoding's complete, get back to virtual dub with the .avi open in it.
click video >> direct stream copy.
click audio >> WAV audio, then choose the wav file imtoo mpeg made.
click file >> save as avi. then choose the name and it should save that in about a minute.

speaking of some theater anti-piracy thing, there are other telesyncs that have had this problem. and the worst part is that its great audio when you fix it but most people don't know that and just say its sounds horrible.
i would think the scene group would at least listen to the audio first. its not like somone is gonna beat them if they release it an hour later like with tv stuff

that was the animal inside the house. he point to it and says something (kinda like excuse you or what ever).

i know this is a small chance question, but is there anywhere to get English subtitles that ONLY show up when Borat is talking to his friend (and who ever else) in what ever language they talk in Kazakhstan?

RIght-On with that my main man Frosty110 !!!
I do see a link in the nfo to a subs-site. Are we to fix this ourselves too?
The funniest stuff in the movie is the subbed shit like the "Running of the Jews", and what he says to his friend.
I assume the subs are right off the screen, so all you have here is a little bit better version then the last time, with audio you have to fix.

If you are a mexican, then this is the bomb-ass release.
Otherwise it's just too much work.

the lack of english subs takes quite a bit away from the film.

v - 7 Not great, but perfectly watchable
a - 4 Ugh. Even if it IS direct, that doesn't change the fact that it's so muffled that you often have to strain to make out what's being said
m - 9 hi-la-ri-ous. In the theater. Without proper subs.... 6.5

Yeah..Sorry, It's on the vcdquality page that got you here.

http://www.vcdreview.com/out.php?s=... 12&id=65079&q=

That takes you to a subs-site where you will find Borat.

English subtitles for Borat.TS.XViD-DiNATY (only when they are not speaking english. thanks to fredpeeps on revolutiontt)
download the .srt file then open VLC click file >> open file.
for the "open:" field click browse, locate the .avi file
click the checkbox "use a subtitles file" so its enabled
browse and locate the .srt file.
then press ok and it should play the movie with the subtitles.
btw, the audio also sounds like nice direct audio if you click audio >> audio device >> mono.

[b]Link changed to the ones mrtourture posted so people don't download the other one

Thanks, dug123! These are infinitely useful.

However, the subtitles look like a translation from Spanish to English and are quit shit in a couple places, like in the Running of the Jew. So, I've taken the liberty to fix them...

This is a direct transcription of the official movie subtitles, taken from the R.T.C. cam release. Enjoy!

Makes sense. Thanks again for posting them -- the timings and such were very very useful. I just figured that since I had a version with the official subtitles, I might as well give'em a quick fix. =]
