This being said, do the math, 24fps vs 25fps means an increase of 4% in frame rate, if you check IMDB movie is 117min long so 117min long at 24fps is actually 112min at 25fps (117-4%) and 117-112 is 4 minutes, so 4 minutes are not mssing it's just because of frame rate, then there's obviously the mpaa dots removal they mention but nuking rls because of that is stupid.

Cr4P, I think your logic is wrong. 117 mins is 117 mins regardless of how many frames are in 1 second. I can see why you may be confused in terms of taking a reel of film and playing it back at a lower FPS rate, but filming a TS with a PAL camera is not going to magically make a movie longer or shorter.

For a typical TS, the video quality is not that bad, however, if you've seen the movie in theaters, you'll know how much is taken away from the whole experience. The visuals are the best part of this movie. Back when the Sin City TS was released, it was one of the best, because the movie was presented in black and white with a few spots of color. This movie, although shot in a similar fashion (comic book style), does not get the same treatment.

I usually vote on releases based on how good it is for what it is (e.g. a great cam doesn't mean it's better than a poor telecine). In this case, even though it's a decent TS, I have to rate it lower because it takes away too much from the movie. So, I rate the video a 5.

And the audio is what it is.

5/6/8

CR4P is right, the movie is cammed at 23.976 fps (NTSC) and then they change the frame rate into 25 fps (PAL) it can be done easily with virtualdub, the proof is that if you change the frame rate of 300 into 23.976 you'll get the exact runtime announced in imdb, how to do this ? just open the 1st cd in virtual dub MOD, take the marker to the end of movie then click video, frame rate and instead of 25 make 23.976, you'll get a longer time, add it to the duration of the 2nd cd obtained by the same operation. DAMN IT'S MAGIC !!!

Removing Dots

Dont think removing the dots will keep the MPAA from figuring out where and from this came from. All this does is show that there is some mad editing to remove the dots, it downgrades the release and removes important video from the release (like in Wild Hogs) Great releases (vid is 8) but when u remove film to mask the dots u ruin the video for everyone. Why take a large gamble to vid a flix then take mad time to remove the vid with the dots. Might as well start adding water marks to cover the dots. How gay is releasing starting to get....what ever happen to the quality groups than didnt care about MPAA and there vid tracking.....Thanks for the release (why bother will be nuked for video missing and will be propered) just my 2 cents.......

Video quality is great, while the colors are dark and there is that infamous flicker line scroll. Hah, not the proper term I'm sure. Doesn't looked overly cropped. Good release.

Nice quality stuff from 20th! You guys are moving up on my list. Video is a tad dark, but good AR, and nice colors. There was one time when it went out of focus when they introduced the queen, but most of the time it was crisp. Someone walks along the bottom of the screen twice at the very beginning, but no other camera blockages. Audio is direct, and full. Not the bassless TS audio that we've been hearing lately. I watched the entire release and no sync issues, or audio glitches. I only noticed one of the cuts where they cut out the MPAA dots, and that was in the scene with the Persian "god". Other than that, the cuts are undistinguishable. I enjoyed the movie more than i thought. It was uber violent, and had great CGI effects. Blood galore. Keep it up 20th.

Excellent work here. There is no way this deserves to be nuked. I did notice 1 edit and for this I rated the video slightly lower than I would have. Other wise it's crisp, clean and I honestly didn't find it too dark.

I'm not sure what the complaints about the audio were all about. Perhaps some codecs need to be updated? I found the volume fine, was not garbled at all, very clear and in sync throughout.

On a personal note, if this group feels safer cutting out a few mpaa dots which amounts to <1 min then I encourage it. Better to have that than risk losing this group.

well might as well say this here with this release.

most 2 or three cd releases by the groups have a different bitrate, pisses me off. you can't join them together as they come.

what i do is recode them to the same bitrate,
after i've went to all that trouble i can lighten it up by tweaking the codec at least the latest DivX codec.

i join the two halves and shrink to one cd .

when i do this i amp the audio and change it to mp3. this gives you more audio to hear the damned thing if it's to low. the result is a good movie not to dark and loud enough to hear.

this one came out good after all that crap.

thing is i hate a release i can't join together as it comes, but it does allow me to [fix] it at the same time i recode it.

the sorce i used [this release] i give a 7.5/7/8

AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED THAT 20TH ADDED MUSIC FROM GLADIATOR THE END CREDITS???

Well...

I skimmed through the rls (I saw it in theaters opening day) and I definitely noticed that some footage is missing... but it doesn't really ruin the movie imo.

The audio is not as bad as people make it out to be. I thought it was pretty damned clear and clean for a quick rls... but adding Gladiator music at the end was kind of indulgent on their part!

20th did a hell of a job. Just a few things I noticed though. Did I see someone moving around getting a seat at the beginning of the movie? And I noticed some very small sync issues on disc 2. However, I loved the movie even though it seriously stretched any and almost all historical fact.

Ah well, this is history viewed by a comic book. Again, it was a hell of a ride and I can't wait for the real retail. Thanks 20th.

In my opinion, this is quite possibly one of the best TELESYNCS I have almost ever seen... Cam is straight, does not moce, hardly cropped at all, starts from very beginning and even has part of the credits without much interruption. Sound was quiet on computer but on a TV, it is listenable... A MUST HAVE...

Those that didn't care about tracking were tracked. Can't blame release groups for trying to stay ahead of da law.

For those of you that cannot join the two avi files with Virtualdub with this release, this is how i did it.

I took cd1 and cd2 and separtely converted them to svcd files using mainconept encoder, then i took the two and used wombles mpeg2vcr and joined the two svcd files, then used Nero or whatever program you use to encode it to DVD.

Came out just fine, video is about the same as the original avi files and audio is ok.

This release in my eyes is the better one unitl a screener or better TS comes out.

Loading each cd into virtual dub or nandub and encoding the audio of each cd at a constant bitrate of say 160kbps or 128kbps and leaving the video alone should allow them to be joined completely fine using Nandub.

methinks you answered your own question.

Audio is carp. No bass at all, and it has a fierce reverb on anything above ~4 KHz.

Luckily, some gent named "Tree Hugger" posted a fixed audio to abmd (on 3/16?) Just mux and it's MUCH better.

Movie is very cool and stylish but the plot falls a bit flat :-/ Overall liked it though, and so did my lady.

That won't work since the video bitrate of each file is different. It will throw it out of sync. You can use avisynth in combination with virtualdub or nandub to join the files.
