No one else has mentioned this, but I get chugging video once every 10 min or so. It's sorta like how on some old machines where you hit pause and the video takes a few steps forward before pausing. Well in this case the video chugs like that if its about to pause but then picks up again. This is when the audio goes out of sync and then catches up again. Anyways, the picture is very clean and sharp otherwise. I'm viewing on a 42inch panasonic plasma with a yamaha standalone. Chugging could just be compatibility issue with my player.

v- 6 if it weren't for that chugging 8
a- 6 because of the sync issue caused by said chugging. otherwise very crisp and clear

This release looks great, but it's definitely mislabeled. The audio is obviously a line source, during long durations of orchestra, you can hear the warbling effects of the mp3 recorder used to capture the line audio, and the audio is totally missing from the credits, which is a common thing for line audio TS's, not DVDSCR.
This also means they converted the mp3 audio to ac3, which is against scene rules.
Great release but should've been labeled as an R5 Line, not a dvd screener.

V - 8 - Video is exceptionally good for such a quick release.
A - 6 - Audio is ok, but has some issues.
M - 8 - I hate to side with the masses, but this movie is pretty damn good.

for the record, this release was done on a standalone DVD recorder, probably by pressing play on one source and then recording on the other.

i'm only saying this because people haven't picked up on it yet and i have seen this exact style menu before on a dvd recorder disc, hence why it has the date and time on it, why the video is recorded in "2 hour mode" - movie is slightly under 2 hours long, release is slightly under 4GB (proving my theory), oh and dvd recorders cannot detect widescreen bars from analog source, which is why the dvd is 4:3 fullscreen.

anyways, now that is cleared up, i'll rate the release

v 9 (this looks like a dvd source being played back on another dvd player, then recorded on a dvd recorder with basic a/v leads from one to the other. this is why its slightly blurrier than a retail dvd and why it is interlaced, and same goes for the 4:3 encoding)

a 9 (it sounds fine to me, a little bit loud but this can happen with half-assed analog transfers. no idea how its done, perhaps it was a foriegn dvd which had a foriegn voiceover during the credits so the guy who made it unplugged the audio cables while recording. i'm only saying this because its the best quality direct audio i've heard since DTS died, if it wasnt for the slight distortion during loud scenes. if it is actually line audio, the reason why it is in AC3 is again because it was done on a dvd recorder, possibly by connecting the MP3 to the audio-in jacks on the dvd recorder)

m ? (haven't yet watched, but will do soon)

thanks mVs even though you stole it

encoding software is the equivalent of The 404 going on a diet and walking thru the door. takes longer and sometimes more skill, but ultimately worth it.

Illegal Alien

I had to laugh at some of these posts about someone stealing the video.. duh! If someone didn't you would be at the theatre watching 300... get a life!
Video looked amazing on my 1080p and the sound had some minor issues.. I downsized the video on my oppo 981HD and this fixed the stretched screen and corrected the aspect.. Really great video.

Video 9
audio 7.5
Movie 10 (Best film I have seen this year) Great Start!

MVS thanx!
