I just followed Cr-critic's advice above and used the software from the link he posted (at the videohelp site - http://forum.videohelp.com/topic316471.html )........The program does it , so you don't have to manually do anything, but it also re-encodes the file as well. I didn't see any distinguishable differences, but it was nice to have the subs work. In PowerDVD, the subs didn't work at all at that timeframe..... Haven't tried the standalone let to see the differences.

as already said its best to fix the spelling of the sub fix file as it has like 20 or so mistakes.....

If your not sure how to add subs go here
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic316471.html

Thanks man! Followed your advice, and used the software in the link -- Then compared the results (of the two files) in PowerDVD, and it seemed to work.... Haven't tested in a standalone yet, but should be fine. Weird that my old PowerDVD doesn't show the subs at all with the 'unfixed' .avi ...... but does when they are fixed

v:9 near perfect for one disk
a:6 - some snap, crackle and pop. I stopped hearing it after a while - anyway, perfectly watchable, and a lot better than some of the other 'line's we've seen lately.
m:8 - good action flick

For the people having problems getting subs to work with VLC (although in my opinion its not hard - rename the subfile so it matches the video file and load manually).... anyway, try KMPlayer. Video quality is equal to VLC, audio is not bad but not quite as good - but, the program has no problem automatically loading subs.
