Supreme Movie Overlord

why would they do a Alien 6?? 5 would be cool, and I heard, even Ridley Scott may take over the director's chair. Cause After all the original was his baby.

MATRIX secrets spilled? Possible SPOILERS inside!

I'm gonna add this to Movie Rumors because its really not set in stone

The May/June issue of Creative Screenwriting contains a fascinating article for fans of THE MATRIX films. In Jeff Goldsmith's six-page examination, the writer looks back at the first and second drafts of THE MATRIX as written by the Wachowski brothers and before the story had coagulated into the shooting draft. The Wachowskis' earlier scripts contain a number of story elements that were junked from the final product audiences saw in theaters, including Neo leaving a girlfriend and little brother behind in the Matrix, an explanation about the origins of the Matrix from a sentient computer program named Eve and different action sequences. One of the more interesting ideas revealed to have been included in these MATRIX early drafts is the idea that the Matrix runs from the years 1980 to 2009, then "reloads" back to 1980 and begins the cycle once again. That should sound familiar to RELOADED fans.

So could there be more ingredients from the discarded drafts we'll see return in THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS? George Lucas did the same thing when he put together the story for THE PHANTOM MENACE, recycling ideas and names discarded from earlier drafts of STAR WARS. There is one intriguing idea mentioned in the Creative Screenwriting piece that could be used somewhere in REVOLUTIONS, namely Morpheus' revelation that the so-called real world may in fact be just another Matrix. It would certainly explain some of the unusual events we saw take place in RELOADED, such as Agent Smith's escape to the real world and Neo's new abilities.

The MATRIX article appears in this month's Creative Screenwriting, on sale for $6.95.

Transformer - Live Action Movie?

I searched but didn't find anything on this, so if this is a repost, I'm sorry.

found this on yahoo.com

Transformer - Live Action

quote:

'Transformers' Rolling Out in Live-Action Film
Wed Jun 11, 1:54 AM ET Add Movies - Reuters to My Yahoo!

By Chris Gardner

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "The Transformers" -- the ever-morphing Hasbro toy line that spawned comic books, TV series and an animated feature -- are ready to change shape again, this time into live-action stars of the big screen.

Angry Films chief Don Murphy (whose next film is "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen") and writer-producer Tom DeSanto ("X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United") have teamed to produce a feature-length, live-action movie based on the popular brand.

The duo are expected to shop the project to studios shortly, and DeSanto said they have already received interest from a handful of directors.

DeSanto is currently working on a story treatment for the project before he and Murphy hire a screenwriter to adapt it for the big screen.

"Transformers enjoys an amazing fan base worldwide, and we believe that we can create an incredibly fast-paced, exciting movie that will be appealing to anyone who loves action films," Murphy said in a statement.

Added DeSanto: "Transformers is one of the properties I have been infatuated with for a long time. Like 'X-Men,' Transformers offers an amazing mythology with all the elements to create a successful ongoing franchise, iconic characters, global themes and a world that has never been seen before onscreen."

Introduced in the mid-1980s, the Transformers brand centers on a group of robots that are able to change into a variety of objects, such as cars, trucks, planes, ships and other technological creations.

The feature film will tell the story of an intergalactic war between two races of robots: the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. When their fight comes to Earth, the future of humanity inevitably hangs in the balance.

"We loved the creative take that Tom and Don presented to us," said Jane Ritson-Parsons, president of the Hasbro Properties Group. "And for Hasbro, the center of our corporate strategy is extending our core brands in a variety of entertainment forms ... This is a franchise where the next story arc and the next destination is on the big screen."

The Transformers was introduced in the United States by Hasbro in 1984 as a boy-friendly toy line. But even though the brand has been around awhile, it enjoys continued success, with sales up 64% in 2002 over 2001, according to Hasbro.

Currently, they can be seen seven times a week via the series "Transformers Armada" on the Cartoon Network. According to Hasbro, additional television programs and comic books are on the schedule for 2004.

The only time Transformers came to the big screen was in 1986 with the animated feature "The Transformers: The Movie."

Reuters/Hollywood Reporter

I so hope this doesn't become true. They already ruined the series after they attempt to revive the animated series (several times).

Did the Wookiee let the cat out of the bag?

WARNING! Possible EPISODE III SPOILER information is contained in this story!

So remember the news that the man inside the Wookiee suit, Peter Mayhew, would be reprising his character again in EPISODE III? There's a tantalizing rumor over on The Force.net that, if true, could drive some fans of the original STAR WARS movies a little nuts.

The Force.net scooper claims to have been a member of the audience for a Star Wars Weekend held at the MGM Studios in Orlando, FL. this past weekend. According to the scooper, actors Peter Mayhew and Jeremy Bullock (Boba Fett) were on hand and took questions from the audience. Apparently (and remember, this report remains unconfirmed) the interviewer prodded Mayhew to expand upon his role as Chewbacca in EPISODE III, to which the actor gave the reply "Chewbacca rescues and delivers the two children to Ben Kenobi."

I did some checking to see if Force.net scooper's story could be true. It does look like Mayhew and Bullock were the two STAR WARS cast members participating this past weekend at Orlando's Star Wars Weekend event. While that doesn't necessarily confirm that Mayhew said what he's alleged to have said, it does mean at least part of the scooper's story has checked out.

So did Ben Kenobi and Chewbacca really know each other before meeting in that dim cantina in A NEW HOPE? Was Chewie instrumental in helping save Luke and Leia from their father? Find out in 2005 when George Lucas brings us EPISODE III: DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

Diaz and Carrey To Reunite In Remake

With no offer on the table or serious discussions happening yet, rumor has it that Cameron Diaz (CHARLIE ANGEL’S: FULL THROTTLE) is first in line to reunite with Jim Carrey (BRUCE ALMIGHTY) in Columbia Pictures’ upcoming remake of the 1977 comedy, FUN WITH DICK AND JANE. If Diaz jumps on board, she will fill Jane Fonda’s shoes as half of an economically distressed married couple that resort to a life of crime. George Segal starred as Jane’s other half in the original. Brian Grazer is set to produce the picture with Barry Sonnenfeld on tap to direct.

DALLAS: the movie?

I suppose DYNASTY comes next...

Variety's Michael Fleming is reporting that a big screen version of the 1980s prime-time soap DALLAS is in the works. Screenwriter Robert Harling (THE FIRST WIVES CLUB, STEEL MAGNOLIAS) is in the process of bringing the scheming measures of the Texas Ewing family to the silver screen, with the help of modern day business scandals. "Set those characters in a post-Enron world, with J.R. the head of the most powerful energy company in the world, and there are endless opportunities for making deals with the devil," Harling was quoted as saying in the trade magazine.

The original DALLAS series ran a whopping 13 years and produced high moments (the "Who Shot J.R.?" craze) as well as the low (one whole season was explained away by saying it was just a dream of one of the show's characters!)

New Regency is the production company currently developing the project with Harling.

Here's a nice lil snippet from www.darkhorizons.com , movie rumors.

Aliens vs. Predator: Well its official, the sci-fi teamup is going ahead after all with filming scheduled to begin this October in Prague under the helm of Paul W. Anderson ("Resident Evil"). According to Filmjerk, the story follows "human scientists going on an expedition to Antarctica to lure Predator hunters, using Alien eggs as bait. Of course, these plans quickly goes awry and the humans find themselves in the crossfire between two warring alien species". Casting agents are seeking seven major human characters (NONE from the previous films in either franchise are returning), including a gorgeous female environmental researcher, her hunky Egyptologist ex-beau, a gruff Han Solo-esque American archeologist, the billionaire industrialist financier who hides his terminal disease, the English-accented Afro-Caribbean team leader, a muscle bound beefheaded Texan, and a geeky but smart scientist. Interestingly with the exception of the female lead, the other six roles are to be filled by European actors. No word on how this moving ahead will affect filming plans on "Resident Evil 2". Thanks to 'Chris' & 'Rich'.

Rob Marshall and His MEMOIRS

Columbia Pictures’ studio head Amy Pascal is meeting with Rob Marshall (CHICAGO) to discuss directing Columbia Pictures/Red Wagon Entertainments’ MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA. Steven Spielberg, who was originally tapped to direct the film, will still have a producing credit on the film which has had a number of directors, including Spike Jonze (ADAPTATION) and Kimberly Pierce (BOYS DON’T CRY), displaying interest in the project.

I hope this one finally gets going soon

Like this wasnt so obvious....

HULK 2 being written

With Ang Lee's HULK opening in theaters today, all eyes in the industry will be on how much money the film will gross this weekend. It seems a good bet that if the picture does well a sequel is inevitable.

But according to an article that first appeared in USA Today, HULK screenwriter James Schamus is already hard at work on the script for HULK 2. The sequel's storyline draws upon the comic book further by using the gray-skinned Hulk which was originally what the character was. (HULK comic writer Peter David later brought back the gray Hulk in the 1980s.) Schamus' idea is to make the gray Hulk a villain, another manifestation of Bruce Banner's tortured psyche. He is also contemplating using The Leader (another gamma radiation mutant, this time producing super-intelligence) and The Abomination (a gamma guy even uglier and meaner than the Hulk) as possible villains in HULK 2.

If the HULK does big box office this coming weekend, expect to hear more about Schamus' future plans for the new franchise.

This one sounds good...

Stars hear the CELLULAR phone ringing

Oscar-winner Kim Basinger and Chris Evans are reportedly in talks to star in CELLULAR, the thriller in development at Dean Devlin' Electric Entertainment. Basinger would play a woman who is kidnapped and makes a random call, dialing Evans' cellular phone by fluke. To make matters even worse, the cell phone's charge is rapidly fading, putting the pressure on the owner to figure out where the kidnapped woman is located before her call is terminated.

David Ellis (FINAL DESTINATION 2) is attached to direct from a script by Larry Cohen (PHONE BOOTH).

More news not rumors on Rocky VI? Hey George Foreman is doing a comeback at 55. So why not Rocky Balboa? I knew I had read that MGM gave the go ahead at 20+ million with Sly taking a part of the gross receipts and forgoing a big contract.

Rocky VI: Sylvester Stallone gave a brief interview to ESPN's "Sportcenter" program this week and aside from playing a bit of golf he talked a bit about who'll he be facing in the next "Rocky" film which he's currently training for - "Actually, (referring to the opponent), he's kind of in the same situation that Rocky was. Even though he's the champion, it's the same situation that Rocky was in in Rocky 1. You know, it's kind of like, an uncertain point in his life and even though he has all the skills, we don't know if he has the real heart for it". Guess this means the project is a go, though likely after Sly wraps up work on the rap star flick "Rampart Scandal". Thanks to StalloneZone & 'AB King'.

Ashton Kutchner from that 70s show as a young Batman? Could be. News from www.darkhorizons.com .

Batman 5: Every now and then news comes along that scares the hell out of me, today is no exception. According to E! Online it seems that not only is Ashton Kutchner a candidate for the role of Batman, he is in fact the ONLY candidate. Seems that "when now out director Brett Ratner got close to casting Superman this year, he tested and retested Kutcher, who apparently did well. The "known mostly as a comic actor and that's even a stretch" Kutcher seemed to want Bats over Supes (who wouldn't?) and is now close to being announced as the lead in the flick to be directed by Christopher Nolan". This rumour was backed up by a report from DH insider 'Turncoat' who elaborates a bit more on the situation - "Christopher Nolan wants Guy Pearce. I think that's about the extent of it. Essentially, the studio has had another 'Ratner' situation on their hands, because the director wants someone, and the studio wants someone else. That someone the studio wants is Ashton Kutcher. Thankfully, it's not as big a deal as the whole Superman thing [which has been madness], because in this place everyone gets along - and from what I hear Kutcher is the new Batman. Done deal". Thanks to 'JHBlade' & 'Micah'.

Can you smell what SHAZAM is cooking?

An interesting albeit unconfirmed scoop submitted to CHUD postulates that suits working at Warner Bros. are thinking about casting WWE wrestler/action movie star The Rock as the superhero SHAZAM.

Screenwriter William Goldman was hired to write the screenplay last March. Upon the surface there is one irregularity present in CHUD's report, that being that the SHAZAM! project is set up at New Line Cinema and not Warner Bros. However, it's not impossible that WB might acquire the property from NL; both companies are owned by AOL Time Warner. Warner Bros. is the primary place for development for almost all of the DC Comics superhero films since, you guessed it, DC Comics is also owned by AOL Time Warner. That doesn't mean WB develops all of them; the Vertigo comic book Y: THE LAST MAN is in development at New Line Cinema and not Warners. If SHAZAM! is being brought back to Warners from New Line the move is still a secret.

The Rock is getting ready to star in the remake of WALKING TALL, scheduled to start shooting this month.

SUPERMAN and STAR TREK

Dark Horizons had the word:

'Birdchasm' has details on the Supes project which at last seems to be moving again - "Superman is looking a bit better. Remember the show "Roswell" on UPN? and "Star Trek"? Jonathan Frakes was the creator of the first and a star of the second. He recently did the "Thunderbirds" film. Anyway, looks like he might be doing it. He too has ideas for casting - Jason Behr and Colin Hanks - tested a week Friday - Behr for the lead, Hanks as Jimmy Olsen. Whilst Hanks is apparently 'looking good', Behr's not a chance. Been a heap of actors in for Superman - Ashton too tested! as did Justin Timberlake, Brendan Fraser, Henry Cavill, Matthew Bomer - but only a handful for Olsen. At this stage - if things are locked down as they are expected to be this month - it'll get rolling before December".

The CAT, the PREDATOR and the CONSTANTINE

IGN FilmForce has been breaking a nice load of exclusive story material on the ALIENS VS. PREDATOR, CATWOMAN and CONSTANTINE movie projects thanks to the industry resource Showfax, a resource used by casting agents to audition actors for possible roles.

For ALIENS VS. PREDATOR, FilmForce has uncovered additional character names and details including the fates of a few humans who get too close to the Alien eggs. The site has also found out that the reason for the human expedition to Antarctica is due to the discovery of an ancient pyramid-like structure beneath the frozen landscape. This is where the fossilized remains of Facehuggers and human skeletons killed by Chestbursters are found, and where there also exist viable Alien eggs. More spoiler material can be found by reading the FilmForce article.

The talent search is on for a character named Angela Dodson for the CONSTANTINE movie. Also revealed by the site are details concerning the hellish menace facing Constantine and Dodson, and the dirty details can be found here.

Finally, FilmForce's CATWOMAN scoop uncovered six pages from a brand-new June 16 draft of the project. The pages feature dialogue between Patience Price, Catwoman's alter-ego, and a detective named Nick. The Nick character appears to be the later version of Detective Tom Lone, the male lead that was mentioned in earlier drafts of the script. More about the threat that confronts Patience and Nick are waiting for your eyeballs right here.

Good luck to all the thespians who try out, and if you make it, toss us a scoop when you're on the set!

Corner spills details about BLADE: TRINITY

Creature Corner is the first website to publish a script review of BLADE III, a.k.a. BLADE TRINITY by writer David Goyer. Ryan Rotten, the reviewer, gives Goyer's third tale of the Daywalker a positive recommendation and also reveals plenty of story spoilers in his review, which you should be warned about.

Rotten review does reveal the premise for BLADE III, who Blade's main opponent will be (the biggest and baddest vampire of them all) and which characters will become his new teammates -- and who doesn't make it all the way to the end. Again, there are some major spoilers contained in the Corner review so you'll have to decide if you want to open your present now or wait until the film's out in theaters.

"These days a lot of writers set out on film endeavors with the intention of creating a trilogy, in the end though, they get weak in the knees and skimp out on the ultimate payoff," writes Ryan in his summation of Goyer's BLADE III script. "BLADE III achieves its purpose, to bring a hero's journey to an exciting end. Leave it to Goyer - who happens to be directing this installment himself - to save this Blade story for himself."

when you say blades nemesis will be "the biggest and baddest vampire of them all" are you referring to dracula.. because the climax of the blade comics was blade versus dracula and it was jut badass... anyway..

Another standalone predator movie?

from creature corner:

With all the talk going round about the eventual 'Alien Vs. Predator' movie (and it will happen, mark my words), it's a wonder this is the first time we've heard anything about another stand-alone 'Predator' movie.
Moviehole recently spoke with screenwriter Sam Park whose script for a 3rd entry, subtitled 'The Deadlier of the Species', was at one time considered by some of the higher-ups at Fox as a possible next movie before said higher-ups moved on to Warner Bros. But now he's got some high hopes that if 'A Vs. P' does well, Fox may come back to him to see about making his script a reality.
Basically the plot follows Dutch again (Ah-nuld, who would have to reprise the role...) as he seeks out the traitor that led his men into certain death many years before. What he doesn't know is that a Predator is hunting him down at the same time for reasons that only become known once you see the film, and they both end up trapped in New York City during one of the worst snowstorms in history.
Great, more Predators on ice. You may remember the 'Alien Vs. Predator' specs we heard about took place in a frozen tundra as well. I guess it'll be more comfortable for the guy in the Predator suit...
Obviously this is all speculation right now, because who knows if Fox will want another stand-alone movie of either 'Alien' or 'Predator' if 'A Vs.P' doesn't do well, but it's still cool to read about it. Head on over to Moviehole to also check out Park's description of how he sees the teaser trailer working....
