Cool

Been lurkin round the VCD forums for a while now, but first post gotta be here. Asian more often than not are far better (in my opinion anyway) than many western films. Some idiot posted that asian films were gay. Thats a laugh. If it weren't for "gay" asian movies where would the inspiration for the fights in Matrix, Star Wars EP 1 & 2, ect come from. West borrows from East, East from West. People with such a closed view are missin a lot of great films. Rant Over. Personal Faves:

The Killer, Better tommorrow, Once A theif, God Of Gamblers, God Of Gamblers Return, Versus, Alive, Returner, Sonatine, Violent Cop, Akumi (not Excellent, But no Bad), Volcano High ( Korean Original, not Western Cut), Happiness of the Katakuris, ect, ect, ect. Any Old School Kung Fu is also always welcomed for viewing with open arms!

Still gotta watch Natural City, just never seem to have the time....

Later troops...

Ah yeah, anything with Mifune in it is a class movie. This cannot be argued.

Check Out Wild Zero If ya can, its bloody unbelieveable. Wanna see a snippet? just look at Mystic's avatar. If ya like horror, check Ju-On The Grudge(Curse) and The Phone for great examples of spookykids! the little girl in the phone is especially good. She could turn into a damn good actress someday.

99% Of all the Asian Films I have watcher are amazing!

Infact I dont remember the last time I watched a English speaking film.

I havent seen the orignal Ju-on's, but watched Ju-On the grudge the other day, easiest the scariest film I have seen.

Sadly I watched the American 'Ring' before the Ringu series, but the Ring 2 has probabbly the creepiest shots in it.

Battle Royal 2 is poor, if you loved Battle Royal as much as I did dont get too excited about the release of the second (requiem)

The Eye was a good film, however I wish I watched it before 'Sixth Sense' as the plot is similar.

Audition - an excellent creepy film! - Some very sick and gruesome stuff in the lsat 10 minutes......

Bangkok Dangerous - Amazing camera work, some very, very attractive Asian women! More action than horror, but highly recommended if you enjoy thriller type action movies.

The Uninvited - I turned it off 1 hour into it, very slow film, very boring and not even slightly scary!

I still have Shiri , Dead or Alive, Snake Of June and a few more to watch which I have d/l.

Looking forward to getting my hands on Ishi the Killer?

ASIA EXTREME!

Ita

Best scene in Fudoh: The Next Generation? There are tons of tight scenes in the flick but my favorite is when the kids are sent as assasions and use all the ammo on killing the bodyguards of their target, the guy smiles at them and the next scene we see is a couple of full trashbags on the side of the street. Genius.

Two recent movies

So I just finished watching a couple good movies in the past two days ...

1) Azumi, directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, the same guy who directed Versus back in 2000. I never saw Versus, but now it's next on my list.

Azumi tells the story of ten teenage assassins whose training is commissioned by a 17th-century ruler wanting to see the end of war. Azumi, the only girl among them, is the most gifted. The movie runs a bit long, and as with most Japanese films, the plot gets a little bit confusing/irrelevant around 60% of the way through. But overall it's an interesting story with amazing fight sequences. Apparently not quite as good as the ones in Versus, but still *very* well done.

8/10

2) Pyrokinesis, the story of a girl with the ability/need to set things on fire with her mind. A much more involved plot here than in Azumi, which is unfortunate as it suffers even more from the plot-muddling around the 60% mark. In fact, by the end I was completely clueless as to which names belonged to the good guys and which to the bad guys. But hey, who cares? It was fun just to watch people burning.

6.5/10
