maVen Don't mean to be on your jock but you set the bar pretty high I been coming here for years but havnt reged on the forum. ever since u came along I kinda just wait for your release. I refuse to watch a cam release, This was a very good release I didnt even see nobody get up this time haha a few of your release people get up and u can see them, kinda ghetto but minor.

This movie sudden just makes a sharp turn and i was finding my self say wtf? but it redeemed itself with the effects etc. I had all the lights off and had it loud and the one scene where the guy yells at her to forget and all the windows shatter and shit OMG I shat my pants, felt like i just saw one of those stupid websites that have scary face and loud noise to scare you. Movie was good all though it just seemed to be something I have seen on the X files. But it was good

Audio 9
Movie 7

Is is it just me or is it impossible to burn maven movies

I have tried almost everything when it comes to burning these maven releases. I have extracted the cue/bin files with vcdgear 3.55 and burned the mpeg with nero 6 ultra at 4x or even 2x for that matter; I have tried burning the mpegs with vcdeasy and I get a sector error and it ask do I want to continue; I have tried burning the the cue file with nero 6 ultra, cdrwin and Alcohol 120% 1.9.2 Build 1705 all at 4x, still no luck. The problem is when I play the svcd on diffferent dvd players the same thing happens with all of them; I can watch about 20 mins of the movie fine; then after that the picture starts to get pixelated and and the dvd player starts to skip. After that I can no longer watch the movie. This only happens with maven releases, why? Is it something to do with the release being PAL and I am burning to NTSC and watching it on a NTSC dvd player. Please if anyone can help it would be much apreciated.

PS Maven great job on the releases, much props

Thanks,

QB, you're a disgrace. Sure you have been lurking for years. You probably invented this site too right? You shit your pant from this movie?

Ok this film was bad. It starts out fine but early on the plot is revealed and it goes downhill from there. From magic eyes to retarded villains that just walk down a path taking fire like it's no big deal. I was waiting for him to flex his muscles. So much for remaining inconspicuous. Then the scene Newbie QB took a dump in his pants over... wow, they implemented NBA Jam big head mode. Instead of shitting in my pants I was LMAO at how hilariously cheesy that was. This was a comedy right? Like someone else said, this entire film is aimless. A bunch of illogical contradicting crap through the entire movie to finish with everything up in the air. What kind of ending was that? I'm still trying to wake from its catatonic mind numbing effect.

If you've ever gotten really shit faced hammered, woke up the next day and felt like you've suddenly become really stupid, then you know what watching this film is like.

Just downloaded this, but the sound is horrid, just like most other releases I download. Does anyone know why nearly every movie I download had cruddy sound, yet things that aren't related to movie releases have perfectly fine volume and sound? I want to hear what I'm watching! D:

Looks great to me. A little extra contrast and the dark scenes come out more. I haven't watched it all the way through, but someone said something about a hum near the end. It this true?

Once again half the people above have judged by the sample, no wonder you all get so euphoric. Time to dampen your excitement a little. All I hear is "Maven is great, Maven is hot". Now listen:

First, they still don't know how to encode properly. The mpegs are not multiplexed properly, WMP returns an error when jumping fast for-/backward. Plus even Tmpeg is unable to demultiplex the mpeg stream properly (try for yourself - turn the videocd 1 into mpeg using VCDGear, then use Tmpeg mpeg tools) - it fails to demultiplex the whole video stream, which results in a corrupted outcome, where half the video is missing, the outcome files being smaller in size than the input mpeg file.

As I was saying before (although nobody listens, because we all are so rich and don't care, cause we all got 1000$ dvd recorders in our living rooms and don't use WMP for playback ), the only programme that demultiplexes this totally phucked up stuff that the warez groups release is mpgtx. I've written a vbscript interface for it (to send mpeg files to the demultiplexer through the windows explorer SendTo menu), you can download the whole package here:

http://membres.lycos.fr/julieborette/mpgtx/

It's very unfortunate that the groups' inability to learn how to multiplex properly is not part of the rating on vcdquality. cause if it were I'd give them a phucking 0

Anyway, back to the standard criteria:

video - 9. very good for a camcoded movie, nothing to complain about. In fact, the washed-out colours that are so typical for a TS fit perfectly well this specific movie, in which cold colours dominate anyway for dramaturgical reasons. So if you wanna enjoy this movie, watch this release, don't go to the cinema!

audio - SUX! My rating - 1. ok, I'm so phucking tired of this - audio volume is once again so low that I couldn't understand anything. So I increased it by 400-500% using TMPGEnc, which made it possible for me to understand what is being said, but at the same time this volume increase decreased the volume quality by a huge degree. Audio in certain scenes that were loud anyway (car collision, e.g.) before volume increase got now so loud that it caused an "overflow", resulting in disturbing noise that has nothing to do with original movie audio.

But if I don't increase the volume or if I increase by less than 400%, I can't hear a damn thing!

Movie itself -7. I don't understand why so many say it sux. It's a pretty good multi-layered movie, you can interpret it from various angles. You can stay on the surface, or dig deeper, right to the metaphorical level. The movie is about the discrepancy between modern-time alienated society and the individual's desire to stay human - in the sense of being connected to the rest of the human race. Capitalism vs. social interaction? Maybe. There's much room for interpretation.

It's suspenseful too. I nearly got a heart attack twice - first during the car accident, when the NSA car came out of nowhere and bumped into the car Moore was sitting in. And second - when the aliens "hoovered" the female police cop. One second she was talking and next thing I see she is hoovered into the flying saucer. lol

bah

Quality is gr8... Anything less and i doubt that they would rls it.

9/9/1

I really don't get what the plot twist was suppose to be. I may have missed some deeper plot point. If you're interested in a movie about memory, i'd wath Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless mind. Now that movie was great when it came to pointing out how memories become twisted. If you want the other end of things, watch Dark City.

This sound problem that some people are having, does anyone think this is soundcard related, cause i dont have any problems with the sound on Maven's releases, and neither do a lot of others, sure they're lower than most stuff like games and mp3's but so are my original DVD's.

Also how can you mess up a multiplex, its one of the easiest things to do, either with Tmpeg or BBmpeg, and WMP is hardly the best program to judge it from, there are plenty of free programs that are superior.

Have you tried this on a DVD player, as it sounds great on mine. especially through DPL2.
You shouldn't increase the volume as it totally ruins the sound, and Tmpeg isnt the best audio encoder either.

of course demultiplexing is an easy thing to do, but Tmpeg fails to demultiplex mpegs that contain errors, I've tried Tmpeg on various mpegs and it failed very often. Mpgtx never fails.

And of course I don't use WMP for playback, I am using my hardware mpeg decoder (plus the soft that was supplied with the hardware card). I just tested the release in WMP. I think a working release should work properly in all players, even if only a few people use WMP.

Tmpeg maybe not the best audio encoder, but using DX plugins in Sound forge is a pain in the ass, cause you have to decode the mpeg audio stream from movie releases to uncompressed pcm to open it in soundforge in order to edit it (or rather SF will decode it for you), so you need plenty of free harddisk space (in addition to all the harddisk space that is already used up by the movie itself)

The sound problem is not sound card related, there are several TS releases in which audio volume is just fine, also the volume on all my dvds is fine.

The volume problem may be due to the fact that the audio stream in some movie releases is in dolby surround format, as suggested on another vcdq thread. However, the sound on all of my dvds is also encoded in DD, and still sound volume is all right there.

If we were talking about cams, I wouldn't say anything, but a TS is recorded using an external audio source, so one would assume audio should be fine. If it's not and one has to increase the volume, thus decreasing the overall audio quality, then such a release should be called CAM, and not TS.
