Movie was very nice quality, sound was fine. Black bars at top are very easy to get used to and did not affect my viewing at all. I wonder why they moved the bar up to take out the words "Do Not Duplicate" at the bottom, yet kept the black bars at the top...they may have been able to just lower the top, since the black bars ran across 75% of the top of the screen anyway...but either way, they did a great job on this. I think there is something missing between discs 1 and 2, and also near the end in a couple spots there are some short parts missing, which I won't get into to spoil the show for those who haven't seen it.
I would rate the quality a 7 video and 7 sound...I believe 8 is for perfect VHS screeners and 9 or 10 is for DVD quality screeners. This is just below a VHS screener, and with the blocks above it loses a half rating point.
As far as the show, it was another disappointment from M. Night, who seems to believe that a big ending can make up for a sub-par show. It worked in The Sixth Sense, because that was a great show from beginning to end. Unbreakable was slow, but ended nicely. Here, however, the end was not enough to save it. I give it a 5 only because Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix were outstanding.
