I'm wearing a "kick me" sign at the moment - this is my first cam download in several years after vowing I'd never watch one after seeing "In the Bedroom" butchered. Really, these things are brutal, just brutal. I can't see the point - I figured the movie was of a type that would not require good quality video to be appreciated, which was a stupid assumption and doesn't give the filmmaker credit, shame on me.

But, people, when you miss the subs and can't hear the dialogue and can't see the dark corners you are responsible for ruining the film for yourself.

Tell it like it is:

V: 2

A: 2

I realize I am not rating this relative to other releases, but the whole genre is an embarrassment. Have patience or go see the film in first run.

I'd like to point out that IMO it is pointless inverting the audio as there are still issues.

Firstly, if you are playing it back from your computer anyway then all you need do is use a program like VLC. There, under the audio menu, you can choose between stereo or reverse stereo, left or right mono. However, you will discover pretty soon that this doesn't solve the annoying problem of the volume fluctuating.

Don't waste your time making wav files and inverting stereo channels in Audacity as the results are no different to using the settings from within VLC, and it doesn't significanty improve the sound quality in this case.

Whoever did the audio on this was a pillock in charge of a noise gate. Without going into detail this ruins the audio and if you run the film through a limiter you'll hear exactly what is going on. There is a slight hiss which you'll hear whenever there is speech and then the audio cuts out very suddenly as soon as the speech stops. That is the noise gate. This causes issues with the volume that cannot be fixed. You can try some clever compression and limiting to try and smooth it out a bit but you may end up noticeing he gaps in the sound more and the hiss they were originally trying to eliminate.

To be honest, its a shame they didn't just leave itt because the hiss ain't all that bad (I've heard worse) and I think they've sacrificed mediocre to decent audio in search of perfection and mucked it up completely.

Why can't groups actually use people who know what they are doing when it comes to audio. It can make or break a release.
