I agree. In fact, I think I'll watch it again tonight.

There were some good movies on the original post, but "Titanic"? Sorry, I disagree.

1. Titanic
2. Casablanca
3. Pan's Labrynth - I loved this movie
4. Catch me if you can
5. Blood Diamond
6. Goodfellas
7. Godfather 1 & 2
8. Back to the future: Trilogy - I just love these films, I can watch them over and over.
9. Lord of the rings: Trilogy
10. Harry potter and the prisioner of azkaban - I really enjoyed the rest but this has to be the best one. If I was to do best 15 movie list they would be on it.

I think it is hilarious that 5-7 of everyone's top 10 ALL TIME greatest movies just happened to occur in the past 4-5 years! HAHAHHAHAAHHAH

I am young, don't give me that excuse. Get a little better cultured and watch a couple older movies that are highly regarded and Titanic will seem like total feces. I am sorry, but Titanic is not in my top 500. Some suggestions are below. Also, this is not a hate mail, I am just tired of our generation having the worst taste in films in the history of cinema.

1) Once upon a time in the West
2) Man with no name trilogy
3) North by Northwest
4) Annie Hall
5) The Maltese Falcon
6) The Shining
7) Amadeus
8) The Sting
9) On the Waterfront
10) High Noon
11) Anything for Howard Hawks (The Big Sleep, His Girl Friday, Bringing Up Baby, Scarface)
12) Young Frankenstein
13) The Graduate
14) Hud
15) The Hustler
16) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
17) Chinatown
18) The Apartment
19) Cool Hand Luke
20) Manhattan

Did you just mention nothing to lose, happy gilmore and super troopers in the same lineup as The GODFATHER?!

I think Oedekerk's true genius was in Thumbwars! LOL. Give me a break. I know everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion but in your case it is just a very, very bad one.

Re: Re: top 10 movie list of all time

Nice name edwardnortonantivirus, He's a recent actor in the past 5-10 years isn't he? I'm tired of the unoriginal names, Don't use the excuse that YOU'RE young.

I have seen the majority of the films on your list, I agree the majority of what I have seen is good to fantastic on your list.

My top 10 isn't very accurate, I need to revise it again. The way I do my list is "Can I watch this movie 500 times, and not get tired of it?" if the answer is yes then I add it to the list.

I'm only quoting this portion of your post "I am young, don't give me that excuse. Get a little better cultured and watch a couple older movies that are highly regarded" I have to ask what is wrong with some of the newer movies? for Example. Pan's Labyrinth, Have you seen this? Letters from Iwo Jima? Have you seen either of those films? Those two movies alone stand the test of time. Both from the year 2006.

::edit:: I am editing this because after I posted the intial post, I stated you didn't have a point, In fact you do, Most people do overlook good older movies. What I should have said is that you jumped to conclusions when you quoted me, I posted those movies because they are infact some of my favorite films.

Hope this clears up a few things.

I will say Nothing to lose is a good movie, I wouldn't classify it near my top 500. Same with Happy Gilmore, Both extremely funny movies but not worthy of a mention.

I'm going to try and redo my list

This has got to be the toughest list to compose.

1. TITANIC: I just watched this movie again about a week ago, It remains in my top 3. Sorry all

2. Casablanca: Fucking classic

3. Godfather

4. goodfellas

5. City Slickers: None of you may understand this. I just can't get enough of this film, I have seen it 200 times at least. Jack palance gave an ace performance, It is a comedy, but I really just love this movie. I feel wierd putting a comedy in my top 10 in all honesty but it deserves the mention. The 2nd was Ok it wouldn't be in my top 100,000,000

5. lord of the rings

6. Pan's Labyrinth: The movie made a huge impact on me, It was just soooooo fucking good.

7. HP: Prisioner of Azkaban: I just can't get enough Harry potter. and this movie was freakin ace.

8. Finding Neverland: Best of the year and it made it to my top 10. I keep forgetting about this movie.

Will get back to ya later on the last 2

Good point Para

Comedy is probably my favourite Genre, the last year, maybe 2 years, there hasn't been much that floated my boat.

That said, I am starting a new thread, top 10 Comedy movies of all time. It should be interesting to see where peoples sense of humour is at.

It is hard to put together a ALL TIme favorite list. Probably impossible b/c I think taste changes with mood and age. Again, I wasn't hating on your list, just needed some clarification to why you picked the ones you did.

Best, ED

A buddy of mine was talking about that just a few days ago, It is rather hard. Just look at my top 10 of the year. lol, It has changed numerous times in the past month, Because there have been some amazing films that have come out recently.

I guess that maybe you can do a top few, Because I know a few will never be replaced. for example Goodfellas, and Titanic. Those will never be knocked off my list. It's not going to happen. But for the most part YOU'RE 100% right.

Just wondering, any of these names ring a bell with anyone?

...anyone at all?

(PS: I think there was one other person who made a movie not in the English language, but it was probably as shit as the drivel the above turned out.)

I am sitting here wondering wich is sadder, the fact that this post by baha went COMPLETELY unnoticed or the the thread all together... i guess the fact that more than one person was praising man on fire dosen't help the thread any and I hope to hell baha just didn't copy all those names off IMDB just to seem all high and mighty cause that would mean that not one of you has a clue as to what great cinema is.

dakiller had nice picks

I did. I have no clue as to the output of the directors I selected. I simply selected names from IMDB and those are the ones that sounded nice

I wonder if you or anyone else could pick nicer sounding names that covered the 1920's to present day with a better rounded catalogue?

TROGLODYTE

i hafta say arguing over personal opinion is pretty damn retarded.
We like what we like and for different reasons.
One opinion has no more worth than another

if you like it,it obviously had some value for you...who the hell can argue with that without being elitist?

that being said..it is too bad that a lot of quality films don't get seen...but if you like films you will hunt them out
