After doing a small bit of research I found another local ISP offering the same servie with added features to cable such as the digital set top box with 13-15 premiums included 7mb/conn with voip for $100/month which is about $20 cheaper a month and I only got basic cable now.

yes, but xdcc bots are a hassle, have to deal with them being disconnected, slow speeds, long queues etc etc, it all depends on the bot you grab from, with usenet it's a constant speed and files when you want it. only drawback to usenet is the price ;P

Which IRC are you on? I've gotten xvids in as little as 15 minutes from start to finish. Rarely have is taken more than 6 hours at the most to get a file unlike fuck torrents. Used pay newsgroup service before and was impressed by the speed and availability but being on a budget I just haven't had the time or money to sign up with a new one yet.

admittedly its been almost two years since ive used an xdcc bot but most of them were either crowded or on hacked boxes making it dicey on the speed you get and having to worry/deal with disconnects while any decent priv torrent spot usually the uploaders use 100 mbit or gigabit seed boxes to help seed the newest releases which helps set the swarm really nice for the first 72 hours till a week or so after release. guess everyones milage will vary, ill continue to pimp usenet till the end the most though
