I like the way this thread is going and a couple of you who have put your names forward probably should've been on the short-list in the first place.

I'll add a couple of the people expressing an interest in this thread onto the short-list, although I'm torn now because some of you post really often and would no doubt be excellent at keeping this dump running and some of you are invaluable when it comes to assisting members on specific subjects.

I think we probably need two new mods, which is a bitch cos I like the sound of at least three of the people shortlisted :S

arf and candyman although probably two of the most helpful are also two of the most boring, uninspiring people here.

^Most of this is in preparation of a new server, forum AND homepage though - it's part of the plan to modernise the site instead of leaving it to die a slow and painful death

Davidbrent has posted a good example of a sensible thread that needed better moderation. We should encourage these and keep the really dumb shit in the pink. This is likely to be enforced harder once the forum is moved to the latest all-singing-all-dancing vBulletin.

Thank you to whoever suggested me, I appreciate the recognition.

It's true that I do try to help people out with their questions where I can - but that doesn't automatically make someone good mod material.

Apart from vcdq.com, there are two other forums that I check on daily, and I am actually a moderator on one of them. I perform general mod duties such as monitoring for rule breaches, deleting posts, moving threads, and so on. I also help the site owner with suggestions for future development of his site.

On that forum, it's very rare that I need to step in and lock threads/ban users. Yes I occasionally get the "fucking forum nazi" comments, but it's never become personal.

This forum, however, is a completely different community, and I would have one particular problem with being a mod here.

CandyMan would get my vote. I too think we need more people with different viewpoints here.

Mods should be able to spell IMO and proven trolls who think they are funny and have been banned multiple times should never become mods.

The shortlist should be changed to the blacklist

I think you might have answered your own question...

I agree we need more members. And have wondered as well why so many people post ratings yet I've never seen them post anywhere else. Once the mods and updaters have been picked we should look at ideas and suggestions from existing members to improve and increase membership to our beloved forum board.

I've been round the block and know the ins and outs of here, i have fresh humour and talent so i am putting myself forward as a new age mod.

The last thing we need is some dick acting like hitler and turning into a twat because they have a ban button, we have all seen where that gets us (it's starting to happen already with someone that is hopeful of becoming a mod)

I see VCDQOTF as an alternative humour forum, as such we need a mod that reflects it, such as NS was in his day.
