Easiest way is, in future, win yourself an oscar, then you will be sent these screeners for nothing.

Bingo.

Oh and this is another worthy release.

i knew this looked like a bad release when i saw the sample and now i have proof:
this is from the /EXTRA dir from within the bin file (cause it was made with DVD2SVCD and whoever ripped it decided to show his stupidity by putting this in):
VIDEO INFO:
- Encoder: Cinema Craft Encoder 2.50.1.0
- Encoding mode: Multipass VBR
- Passes: 2
- Max. bitrate: 2530
- Avg. bitrate: 1729
- Min. bitrate: 300
- Image Quality Prio: 17
- Antinoise filter: No
- Linear quant. scale: Yes
- Zigzag scan order: Yes
- Upper field first: Yes
- Progressive frames: Yes
- iDCT Algorithm: 32-bit SSE MMX
- Resize method: SimpleResize
- Temporal smoother: No
- Sharpen: No
- NTSC Field Operation: Inverse Telecine, using Donald Grafts Decomb dll
- Deinterlace: None
- Pulldown: Yes
- Matrix:
--------------------
and gee...looking at the nfo it says : Video Bitrate - 1810

so not only did they lie about the bitrate saying its higher than it actually was...they only did a 2 pass rip of it. anyone with a clue how to encode knows that 2 pass is pathetic...3-5 needed for a quality rip...not only that but Antinoise filter was left off...come on now...dvd screeners are not fully mastered and would benefit greatly from that...but it was left off im sure to increase the encoding speed. And last but not least simpleresize was used...sad.
thx V4F, but no thx...ill wait for an internal of this

anyone else notice the bad packet at about 49 mins in the first cd or am I the only one? Wish I knew how to fix that problem.

No I haven’t and I don’t need to...I’ve seen enough releases in my day to know which are worth watching and which are crap by the encoding methods. It’s a real shame that quality groups like iV take the time to encode properly (5 pass, bicubic resize) and groups like V4F can release a quick and shitty encode and people will go bonkers for it and rate it an 8.7...just cause it’s a DVD screener. Why even waste the time to do a quality rip? All u need to do is a 2-pass, simpleresize with dvd2svcd no less. It really is sad. And those of you that think that this is a good rip...I fart in your general direction! Use your eyes and your brain for once before you vote a 9 on video that honestly deserves nothing more than a 5...and that's being generous.

DVDSCR, my precious...

Video quality very good. Audio also good. Movie? Mehhh....

The costuming is a bit silly in this one. 2 ft tall tophats, etc. They may have dressed like that back then but those Red and Blue brightly colored sashes? C'mon, that just looked stupid.

Instead of Cameron Diaz they should've found a cuter, younger redhead, like Jennifer Garner maybe? Cameron was hot in The Mask but she ain't anymore.

Daniel Day Lewis was great as the Butcher. But why didn't more people try and shoot this bastard?

DiCaprio was... tolerable. The movie didn't pick up for me until after Leo recuperates from being "butchered". THEN the movie really kicks in.

But... overall it just felt like a live action cartoon... like that Popeye movie starring Robin Williams. Not realistic. Sorry, this one can't beat The Pianist.

While what you said before this was your opinion, which of course I will not argue like other morons on this forum, but they did wear stuff like that then. Anything with colours was fashionable. People even had purple houses or striped colour houses. Colour clothing was new and different and desirable.

@timmay007

Coming from your name I can see what type of person you are.

Anti-noise only softens the picture and you lose detail. It should only be done on high noise or pixelated sources. You want to keep the film look. The movie was perfect and I kinda wish LOTR2 was only 3cds. No need for that extra bitrate IMO.

i agree that 2 passes is pretty low. however, i do not believe that that reckoning takes into account the production of the *.vaf file, which in cce settings would count as another pass, making this the equiv of a 3-pass encode. not sure on that one. in any case, having watched the flick, i've got to say that it looked pretty good.

i agree that if you don't have to use a noise filter, you shouldn't.

simpleresize is fast, and generally does a pretty good job, actually. in fact, some are of the opinion that, for instance, bicubicresize is *not* ideal for reducing image size, only for enlarging... and that when reducing, one should use something more akin to bilinearresize (which is basically what simpleresize is).

decomb is an excellent ivtc/deinterlace filter.

so the bitrate doesn't match by a few k. what the average is set at is not necessarily what average bitrate was acheived, particularly when using cce, which has a tendency to run a bit over the average setting.

as for the movie itself, i thought it was decent but not outstanding. i think a lot of people are sort of missing something about the style: it's *supposed* to have that sort of "larger than life" quality; whomever said something about the popeye movie is actually on the right track; tho i think that perhaps "desperado" or even "charlie's angels" is a bit closer to the mark. like those flicks, this film was not supposed to be trying to convince you that it was an accurate portrayal of historical realities or convince you that it were 'really' happening, but more to present an almost mythopoeic image using archetypical figures (for those of you to whom this means anything, think roland barthes meets tarantino, but not as well done :p ) set in an era and place that many people have given little consideration to (generally when most ppl think of that time period, it's either images of the 'old west', or of civil war battles in the south... ppl rarely consider what might have been happening in new york back then). it was a good idea, only half pulled off -- tho i'll admit i thought this was one of dicaprio's better roles, usually i can't stand the guy.

So why do you then ask me to....

So you vote based on the encoding method rather than actually downloading the movie ??

I waited for the Dvd Screener on this one, and it was well worth the wait. I can't say anything bad about the movie at all. Great performances by everyone (especially Daniel Day Lewis), and the big gang rumbles were cool. Watched this one on my Dvd player and had no problems with anything through all 3 disks. Great Release V4F!

No, this movie fuckin sucked. I usually can tolerate dicaprio, not that i like him cus hes a faggot, but i can usually tolerate his movies, like catch me if you can that was pritty good, and so was beach but this movie fuckin sucked ass. I was basically pissed that i lost two hours of my life watching this piece of shit movie. It could have been ok, but half way through the movie it went to hell. The first scene was the only good part, atleast thats my opinion, so if you want to waste two hours to be pissed off afterwards then watch it, but otherwise watch something decent.
