XVCD

Has anyone here had any joy converting this to an XVCD? I've done hundreds of XVCDs before and all the NTSC ones work fine, but it seems that any SVCD in PAL format screws up on my standalone. I've got a Pioneer DV-737 player. Just presents a black screen and plays the first second of audio, then stops and resets. Real shame as I'd love to watch this on my HT.

well a worthy release for x2! Even though it isn't the best coming out of ctp, the picture is inferior to their last rips but a nice 6.5 will do it. Top notch audio 8.5, and the movie well I give it a 7, great but the leave you hanging till the next one kind of ending has to stop hollywood!!!
Props to Ctp and eso, since thier subbed rip was, as good as, this one.

So thats why the damn things studders in my player.I knew it had something to do with how they encoded it.Centropy why the hell you releasing shit in PAL.I seen other releases from them do the same thing, and Ive seen other groups ripping on them for wrong rate.I have a top notch Panasonic CP-72 and it plays but it has a very slight studder to it.PAL...? cmon Centropy pull your heads out your arse and start doing it right. We dont need a summer full of PAL releases.Damn nice release but to bad you ruin it for people who have decent dvd players.I have no problem playing svcds usually, when theyre done right anyway.

OK, ragardless of what has been said, this is better than the eso subbed release. Much brighter and vibrant colors. Secondly, This still has an angle and it is zoomed in WAY TOO MUCH. People will talk and you can't even see their lower jaw. This means you are missing QUITE A BIT OF THE MOVIE. And hey guys, the end is important, and you can't see it in the TS. Not that it's cut out, it's just too dark to see. Great movie, good release, disappointing so see it at the theater.

Got CD 1 so far and here's my thoughts:

the angle is still quite bad but the picture has been cropped atthe sides to try to compensate.

looking at it it appears as though this was shot from somewhere near the floor in the center of the front row. The angle is quite pronounced but seems quite even on both sides of the screen.

the sound seems good quality but quite dull - there's no sparkle to it - needs a bit of tweaking to get a good feel.

will test on the standalone in a bit.

its not a watermark, its your player elecard updated and saw you were using a cracked version.

Thumbs up

Nice job Centropy! I just watched it front to back, as I did with the Esoteric release, and I was nervous towards the end, waiting for the final minutes of this release to be "cut-off". Well, it was cut-off alright, but only milliseconds from where it ends anyway. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t see ANYTHING missing! I wonder if it is a DVD player buffer thing. I played it in our Apex DVD player and it cut off with the silhouette visible in the lake. Then I played the CD using PowerDVD on my machine and it stuttered three times, 2 seconds before that moment, never reaching it. Finally, I mounted the image using Alcohol 120% and I got the same result as playing it on the Apex, with no stuttering. SO… I think we can see the end as it was meant to be. If I have any request of Centropy, it would be to let a few more seconds go before they cut it off. Five seconds into the credits would ensure that we can actually see the last scene fade to black, or whatever. A simple request, because this release rocks!

Audio is awesome! Video is a major improvement on the last release, especially the inclusion of the missing moments omitted from its predecessor. Like Charles conversation with Magneto while he is still incarcerated, and Logan’s with the kid that throws ice. It’s only a few seconds, but now what was a break is now seamless! Centropy again allows us to have something to view again and again, and even again, to pick up subtle things in this film that might elude us the first pass around, and not think about the nasty issues with cams that detract our attention from the film.

This release is first rate (in its category, as in non-DVD rip) and I give it a 9/9/9.9
The 9.9 - For well thought out deep content in the storyline and well thought out choreography in many of the scenes. Especially the White House security penetration scene! WOW! Night crawler looks like Jet Li!!!

Go see it in the theatre if you haven’t already, and keep this release to see it again!

I justed watch this version.

Video is superb. CTP is really doing well these days.

The audio is great too.

I just wish they'd release in NTSC v.s. Pal. I've had sync issues
lately in the conversion. Tmpgenc works 99% of the time but it's so damn slow. Mainconcept is fast (30 minutes a disk) but it's hit or miss on the sync.

8.5/8.5/7

Yes, I get a similar issue. It's cos Centropy encode their releases in PAL format (as their DV Cam is PAL). It seems the header trick doesn't work for any PAL SVCDs. Well, none that I've seen.

Okay, lets get one thing straight... I saw the first screening of this movie in the UK... For all the people asking and wondering if Jean Gray rises out of the water as the Phoenix.. the answer is NO. The movie ends with the faint blur of the phoenix 'flying' underwater... fades to black and rolls the credits...

Phew! Great rls Cent, keep 'em comin 8/8/9.5

Crazy Theatre Seal

Video was too cropped for my liking, however it did have very good coloration, sharpness, the fish-eye lens effect is unnoticable to me anymore. Audio is dual mono, it would be nice if they could take it from a dolby-dig test jack then they would get stereo, but it is still very crisip.

8/8/8

Why doesnt anyone seem to care that there is over 30 minutes missing from this release?????

The two CD's together are 100 minutes long - the runtime of the movie is 134 minutes.

What's missing is one of the best parts of the movie.

How about you people watch the release before you vote.

Unbelievable...

I won't even bother voting since its missing 20% of the movie.
