Tom Savini to work on "Dawn of the Dead" remake... NOT! as a makeup artist?

From Creature Corner:

Tom Savini was the man responsible for making sure all the cool grue & gore you love and remember from 'Dawn' and 'Day of the Dead' happened exactly like it was supposed to, exactly when it was supposed to. It's an art, one the more and more effects guys have lost touch with nowadays. Now the remake of 'Dawn' is being shot up in Toronto, and the filmmakers have decided to throw Tom a bone.
Sadly, however, it's not a makeup bone. Tom will have a cameo in the movie as a sheriff (alive or dead? Not sure), something that's been speculated on since the movie got underway. Well, not the sheriff part, the cameo part. ANYWAY, that is the official word from Tom's camp.
Scheduling conflicts have prevented them from actually filming the cameo as of yet, but rest assured when 'Dawn of the Dead' shuffles into theaters sporting God knows what kind of abominations to the zombie genre, at least one familiar face will be there to remind you of what it used to be like.

Possible Predator 3?

Got this from moviewholenews. Personally don't think it will happen. Arnold has too many irons in the fire with many other projects in the works . Including political office? Arnie please stay in movies and don't run for governor of California. I can't see him doing both.

Search News Search Reviews

There might be a "Predator 3"...

A few years back rumours circulated that action maestro Robert Rodriguez was set to make a “Predator 3”. Nothing ever eventuated of it. But now, with “Aliens vs. Predator” around the corner, there’s just got to be interest? Possibly. A booming script has indeed been written. Just one thing: the studio hasn’t snapped it up yet.

Chances are no one’s going to greenlight a stand-alone “Predator” film before they see how well “Aliens vs. Predator” does – but Screenwriter Sam Park is confident they will, because the script the studio once considered using, “Predator 3 : The deadlier of the species” is still on his i-mac.

Park explains, “It's one of my favorite sci-fi action films. Some films are great for certain parts. This is a film that works terrifically as a whole and then some. Joel Silver's deft producing and John McTiernan's sure hand at directing came together at the perfect time to realize Jim and John Thomas's suspenseful, smart and witty action script. Arnold. He was born to play Dutch. Somehow the planets aligned, mystic forces gathered and "Predator" dropped into theaters in 1987 causing everything you knew about action and science fiction movies to change.

This was another attempt on our part to do something the fans would love and even the larger film audiences would embrace as familiar but with a new and exciting spin on the concept. [Joel Silver’s assistant, Reggie Hunter] did his part and got this treatment into [Joel] Silver who told him it was great but...he no longer was working with Fox on this franchise (now strictly a Warner Brothers team player) and so, nothing came of it.

According to Park though….there might be some interest in it now.

I checked out the storyline treatment for the film and I must say, it isn’t too bad at all. If anything, it’s great to see Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch back in the mix. It’s very loyal to the first film sit in the Jungle again, and sounds like it could be a perfect vehicle for Arnie. Lots of double crossing, Arnie vs Predator fights again, and trivial origins stuff.

Says Park, “Dutch is back. He turns his back on love to track down the traitor who
wiped out his elite squad of soldiers. Two years later it's Dutch who
is being secretly stalked by a Predator with a mysterious agenda until
it learns that Dutch holds something more dear to him than life. This
sends the Predator into its own private hell during the worst snowstorm
in New York's recorded history to find Dutch's heart...and rip it out.”

Well keep you posted on it. Meantime, we were also provided with what would be the description of the teaser trailer :

An audience settles into the darkness of a theater as the previews
begin on the screen.

The camera drifts through an unearthly blue and white spray. Suddenly
we realize we are gliding through snow during a blizzard at night in
New York City. Down a hazy street the florescent glow of a STREETLAMP
beckons.

NARRATOR (VO)
New York City is captured in a frozen nightmare.
The worst blizzard in 70 years.

We drift past the streetlamp toward a DARK ALLEY.

NARRATOR
Some say the winter's cold has icy teeth
that chew and rend the flesh...

A frozen RED STALAGMITE of drained blood rises out of the shadows to
point us up into the darkness.

NARRATOR
...its frigid wind, a voice that howls
to our most anxious inner consciousness...

Floating up as if in a nightmare we suddenly see it in the darkness: a
frozen HUMAN BEING suspended from a fire escape, his skin ripped
completely away to reveal the gore inside.

NARRATOR
...like a predator.

The camera turns from this tragedy to the bloody ice below.

NARRATOR
Who can save us from this evil?

Out of the icy flakes emerges a HUGE FIGURE in shadow. His parka is
tattered, a sleeve is gone. He stops before the grisly stalagmite.
Quickly he reaches to grab it. Boulders shift under the skin of the
exposed arm. With a superhuman effort the slender frozen mound breaks
loose!

Turning into the light of the streetlamp is DUTCH (Arnold
Schwarzenegger). He's older. A healed scar creases one brow. He raises
the jagged ice like a spear and then we see it. The GREEN BLOOD glowing
upon the ice covering the sidewalk.

DUTCH
It bleeds.
(pause)
We can kill it.

He raises that red ice spear high and jams it into the Predator blood,
causing the ice to crack into a thousand fissures as the glowing green
goo flows through them to form the TITLE:

PREDATOR 3

The screen goes black.

NARRATOR
Coming this Christmas.
That isn't Jack Frost nipping
at your nose.

CREDITS.

END.

Sam and Clay’s script treatment is darn gold. Anyone listening?

With all the talk going round about the eventual 'Alien Vs. Predator' movie (and it will happen, mark my words), it's a wonder this is the first time we've heard anything about another stand-alone 'Predator' movie.
Moviehole recently spoke with screenwriter Sam Park whose script for a 3rd entry, subtitled 'The Deadlier of the Species', was at one time considered by some of the higher-ups at Fox as a possible next movie before said higher-ups moved on to Warner Bros. But now he's got some high hopes that if 'A Vs. P' does well, Fox may come back to him to see about making his script a reality.
Basically the plot follows Dutch again (Ah-nuld, who would have to reprise the role...) as he seeks out the traitor that led his men into certain death many years before. What he doesn't know is that a Predator is hunting him down at the same time for reasons that only become known once you see the film, and they both end up trapped in New York City during one of the worst snowstorms in history.
Great, more Predators on ice. You may remember the 'Alien Vs. Predator' specs we heard about took place in a frozen tundra as well. I guess it'll be more comfortable for the guy in the Predator suit...
Obviously this is all speculation right now, because who knows if Fox will want another stand-alone movie of either 'Alien' or 'Predator' if 'A Vs.P' doesn't do well, but it's still cool to read about it. Head on over to Moviehole to also check out Park's description of how he sees the teaser trailer working.... [/B]

should do some searching to see if somethings allready been mentioned instead of making an entire thread dedicated to it blindly

Cameron likes T3? Arnold in Aliens 5?

Got this from www.darkhorizons.com

Terminator 3 & Alien 5: James Cameron recently talked with BBC1 and revealed he's very happy with how Terminator 3 ended up: "In one word : Great. There was a small part of me that hoped it wasn't good - but another part of me hope'd it succeeded. And it did. And I'm so glad it did. Jonathon's made a great movie. Arnold's in great form. I really like what he's done with it". If he had done it, would he have handled it differently: "Yes. That's only natural. I mightn't have structrued it the same, nor may I have ended it the same way - but coming in where he has, such a hard thing to do, and I give Jonathan points for it".
This isn't a man whose going to whitewash his opinion either, take for example his reaction to "Alien 3" - "Hated it. Simple as that. I hated what they did.... I couldn't stand Alien 3 - how they could just go in there and kill off all these great characters we introduced in aliens, and the correlation between mother and daughter. It stunk, but hopefully I'll get a chance to rectify all that". You mean the talk about him being tied to "Alien 5" is true? "To an extent. yes. We're looking at doing another one. Something similiar to what we did with Aliens. A bunch of great characters, and of course Sigourney. I've even discussed the possibility of putting him [Arnold Schwarzenegger] into the Alien movie". Thanks to 'Ryan'.

SCOOP: Who`s going to be Willie Wonka?

Judging from the casting buzz being overheard by ourselves and Dark Horizons, it looks like the search is well underway to find the new Willie Wonka in Tim Burton's remake of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

According to one of our scoopers, Christopher Walken (CATCH ME IF YOU CAN) is one of the leaders emerging from the acting talent pool. It wouldn't be the first time Walken's worked with Burton; the actor played the part of scheming industrialist Max Schreck in BATMAN RETURNS.

But here's where it gets stranger: yesterday Dark Horizons ran a rumor that Walken's adversary in BATMAN RETURNS, namely Michael Keaton himself, is also being considered for the role of the candy tycoon.

So is Burton looking back at the BATMAN franchise to find his Wonka?

BLADE 3 Characters

************SPOILERS!!!!!!***************

FilmJerk had the rumor:

FilmJerk

"The Daywalker” returns to the cinema screen yet again and faces an adversary that will be his greatest match yet— a vampire that predates even Dracula. Pre-production for the second sequel in the “Blade” franchise, “Blade III,” is now in full swing, with the lead roles of the new players now in the hands of casting agents (which we have been able to obtain). According to sources close to the production, the New Line film (bringing back Wesley Snipes in the central role, with Kris Kristofferson also set to star) will begin principal photography September 22 in Vancouver.

The storyline for the third film finds Blade joining forces with two vampire hunters, part of a group called the Nightstalkers, as they tackle the powerful and ruthless villain Danica Talos. After harvesting the superior blood of the ancestor of all modern vampires, Talos has resurrected the man now known as “Drake” (notice the modernization of the Dracula name) from a century-long sleep in the hopes of finally getting world control for all vampires. Blade, along with the Nightstalkers must unleash a virus that will kill all vamps— but only are given one chance to make it work.

Among the roles still to be cast and which the film’s casting director is looking to fill are:

Abigail Whistler: A beautiful Caucasian woman in her 20s, Abigail is “cut like an Olympic athlete” and equipped with a walking arsenal of vampire-fighting weapons. Abigail is the daughter of Blade’s old partner Whistler (played by Kristofferson), and, like him, she’s an accomplished, deadly vampire hunter who lives and works with the Nightstalkers. Described in the casting notes as “determined, ruthless and unique (she likes to listen to her own music playlists on an MP3 player as she fights),” Abigail saw her whole family destroyed by vampires and, as she puts it in the film’s script, “Ever since I can remember I’ve had this knife of sadness in my heart. As long as it stays there, I’m untouchable. But the moment I pull it out—I’ll die.”

Hannibal King: In his 30s, King is described as “an audacious vampire hunter with a flair for drama and often sporting an irrepressible grin.” He works with the Nightstalkers, having been saved by a scientist there after he was turned into a vampire himself by Talos and is an accomplished fighter with a wicked sense of humor and a seemingly endless supply of pretty good vampire jokes. Courageous and strong, with unbelievable stamina, King is captured by Talos and her henchmen in the film and beaten within an inch of his life—but the one vulnerable point he has (which Danica capitalizes on) is his terror of being forced to become a vampire again.

Drake: The granddaddy of all vampires, not merely Count Dracula but a creature whose origins go back to ancient Sumeria, he’s endured centuries of upheaval and war, and has been summoned from a 100 year long sleep. And he’s not happy about it. An articulate and unspeakably strong “blur of bestial rage and unfettered horror,” Drake has a DNA peculiarity that allows him to be able to withstand the daytime’s sun, unlike modern vampires. He wants to use his blood to improve on their own physicality and ensure their future survival. An accomplished shape-shifter because of his mutable bone and cartilage, Drake wants nothing less than to be a god among his people, and acknowledges a worthy adversary in Blade (who, after all, is a hybrid who shares some vampire characteristics). The producers of the film are looking for an actor with an international presence.

Danica Talos: An “intense, intelligent, beautiful and voracious” vampire with a regal air who appears to be in her early 30s to mid 40s, she’s the head of a band of vampires who’ve resurrected the ancient vampire “Dracula/Drake” in order to harvest his superior blood. Danica (who begins sleeping with Drake upon his resurrection) mobilizes her forces against the vampire hunters and engages in some intense pitched battles with Blade, Abigail and King.

Other roles also being cast include: Edgar Vance, a smooth talking pundit who firmly pooh-poohs the existence of vampires and publicly brands the outlaw Blade as a very sick individual (when, in fact, viewers learn that he believes very much in vampires, and is a “familiar” to them); Zoe, a 5-year-old whose mother is a scientist within the Nightstalker “family” and is watched over by Abigail; Grimwood, a hulking vampire with an imposing physique and an even more imposing set of surgical steel teeth/fangs; Asher, a natural born leader with an easygoing charisma, who is an accomplished fighter that has become a vampire; and Martin Vreede, another “familiar” who, as the chief of police, tells the public that Blade is a deranged individual who is himself the threat to society.

David Goyer, who has written the previous two installments of the comic book adaptation as well as this film’s screenplay, is set to helm. “Blade” and its first sequel earned $277 million worldwide.

PIRATES sequel in development

With a $46 million dollar opening weekend it was bound to happen.

Josh Spector over at The Hollywood Reporter says that Disney is in early development on a sequel to PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. According to Spector, the studio has already locked the principal PIRATES players including director Gore Verbinski, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and cast members Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. As well, the movie's screenwriters, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, are thinking about where they could take the characters in a second adventure.

One week after its bow, the film is approaching the $80 million dollar mark at the box office.

CATWOMAN declawed?

A reliable industry source who has scooped Coming Attractions in the past has said that Warner Bros. may be close to pulling the plug on its CATWOMAN feature film. Actress Halle Berry is attached to play the adventurous costumed heroine.

Our informant doesn't know specifics but they've told us about numerous industry developments before they've broken publically, such as Warner's decision to move the production of TERMINATOR 3 from lensing in Vancouver, Canada to Los Angeles instead. "It's stillborn," was what they cryptically told us about what's happened with CATWOMAN.

On the surface it still appears as business as usual. The CATWOMAN production still has an active production office phone number and remains pencilled in for a September start of filming in Vancouver. Whether that information will change in the weeks to come remains to be seen, but as we mentioned, our source has been privy to these kinds of decisions before they are publically announced.

For now take our scoop as an unconfirmed rumor that comes from good sources. If the studio has terminated its CATWOMAN movie this is the first anyone's heard of it.

I wonders why Warners can't seem to pull the trigger on their superhero movies.

Ocean`s Teens

Variety reports that Maverick Films has bought an untitled pitch from writers Marc Sedaka and Glenn German that sounds like a young version of OCEAN'S 11. The story is about a group of teenagers who plan to rob the Bellagio Hotel's arcade in Las Vegas.

Sedaka, who's the son of crooner Neil Sedaka, is also attached to direct the movie.
